Delhi University UG/PG 2025 Admission

The officials will start the online registration for the DU 2025 admission. The official dates have not been announced. Delhi University UG Admissions 2025
The applicants must know that the Delhi University Admission 2025 process for UG programmes is done based on the marks of the candidates in 12th or equivalent qualifying examination, except 14 UG courses. In other words, there’s no entrance test for admission to undergraduate programmes at the affiliated colleges of the University of Delhi. The entrance test for DU admissions is held only for 14 UG programmes. Delhi University admission process for UG programmes is common for all affiliated colleges, except for St. Stephen’s College and Jesus and Mary College. For DU UG Admission 2025 to most UG programmes, the ‘Best of four’ subject marks in the qualifying examination are considered for preparing the merit list and further offering merit-based admissions.
DU PG Admissions 2025
There are various Postgraduate programs offered by the University of Delhi in many disciplines. Therefore, the students who wish to pursue any higher degree courses can apply for DU PG Admission. For Delhi University PG admission, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct DUET 2025 Examination. DU PG admissions are offered through entrance test mode and on the basis of merit also. Admission to 50% of the DU PG seats is offered through merit mode, while the remaining 50% postgraduate seats at Delhi University are offered via entrance test – DUET. Therefore, it is compulsory for the candidates to score a good rank in the Delhi University Entrance Test in order to get admission.
DU Ph.D. & MPhil Admissions 2025
Admission to MPhil and Ph.D. program is based on scores obtained in the university-based entrance test, followed by a personal interview (PI). UGC NET/ CSIR NET qualified candidates are exempted from the entrance test and called directly for PI round. Therefore, all the aspirants must know the admission process of the Delhi University Ph.D. and MPhil programs. They must qualify in the written Entrance Exam (DU-JAT) in order to be eligible to sit for the interview round.
DU Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria of DU UG admissions are common for all the affiliated colleges, except St. Stephen’s and Jesus and Mary College. There is no minimum age criteria for DU UG admission. Candidates can know the Delhi University eligibility criteria for admissions to undergraduate programmes through the table below. Delhi University PG admission 2025 is both entrance and merit-based. For merit-based PG programmes, candidates must follow the same guidelines as for merit-based UG programmes. However, for entrance-based PG programmes, candidates must be eligible under the following criteria to sit for DU PG Entrance Test:
- Age- There isn’t a minimum age bar for admission to the post-graduate courses in the University and its colleges except in the courses where the respective regulatory bodies such as Medical Council of India (MCI), Bar Council of India (BCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Dental Council of India (DCI), National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), etc. have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their respective regulations
- Qualifying examination- The details of the Qualifying Examination for each course is provided on DU’s official website (www.du.ac.in)
- Equivalence criteria- Departments/colleges of the university may advise the candidates concerned, wherever necessary, to get recognition/ equivalence of their degrees certificates authenticated from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), University Grants Commission (UGC) or equivalent. Further, the cases of equivalence of degrees/ diploma/ certificates may then be put up before the University Authorities for further consideration and confirmation
- Reservation criteria- As much as 22.5% of seats are reserved for applicants belonging to SC and ST (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST, interchangeable, if necessary). A total of 27% of seats are reserved for applicants belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Govt. of India List

DU Application Form 2025
The aspirants who wish to take DU Admission must fill the DU Application Form 2025 DU admission forms or the application process will release in online mode for the UG and PG programmes. According to official data of 2019, as many as 367895 candidates registered for DU admissions, while only 258388 candidates paid the registration fee. This means that 1,09,507 candidates did not pay the registration fee or withdrew from the DU admission process. Steps to Fill DU Application Form
Step 1 – Registration: Registration is a one-time process and is the very first mandatory step. At this stage, their user name and password will be created which will further be used for all future login purposes.
Step 2 – Filling the application form: At this stage, candidates have to log in using the log in details generated at the first stage and fill details. Details to be entered at this stage include personal, bank, academic details, and also the “best of four” marks. The best of four calculations can be done using the online calculator provided by the university. Check the procedure to calculate the DU best of four below.
Step 3 – Uploading documents: The following documents have to be uploaded at this stage:
- Passport size photograph of the applicant
- Scanned signature of the applicant.
- Self Attested Class X certificate/mark sheet containing Date of Birth.
- Self-attested Class XII Marks Sheet OR a self-attested copy of the Marks Sheet downloaded from the respective Board’s website should be uploaded in case of result not declared.
- Self-attested copy of the valid SC/ST/OBC/PWD/KM/CW certificate, if applicable.
- Self-attested copies of Sports/ECA certificates, if applicable.

DU Cut Off 2025
The DU 2025 Cut Off is the minimum qualifying mark that the applicant must meet in order to get enrolled for a particular course into the college of their choice. The candidates can download the cut off list from the official website of Delhi University. The cutoff list, released each year varies. Every college sets its own cut-off for admission to a particular programme. However, St. Stephen’s College and Jesus and Mary College will be announcing their own cut-offs based on the entrance test conducted by the colleges for admissions to different undergraduate programmes. How to Calculate DU Admission“Best of Four”?
The admission process to the UG programmes at the participating colleges of DU uses the ‘Best of Four’ aggregate marks of the candidate’s four subjects from the qualifying examination. To calculate the best of four, the following subjects will be taken into account by the Delhi University:
- One language (Core/Elective/Functional)
- One subject (For which candidate wishes to apply)
- Any two academic subjects
It must be noted that the best of four means the marks of those subjects (where the candidates have scored the highest out of all subjects) will be included for offering admission to DU courses from the qualifying examination as per the subject options available in the list above. The subjects offered by the University of Delhi admission may differ from what they wish to apply for. However, the language subject will remain constant.

Once a candidate is eligible to take admission in any of the college/course, they must further take part in the process of DU Admission 2025. After checking the cut off marks, candidates will get an idea about the colleges where they have better chances for admission to the desired UG programmes. At the time of filling the DU admission form, candidates have to select the colleges/programmes in which they want to seek admission. After selecting the preferred colleges/courses, candidates have to take a printout of the admission form. Further, the admission form of DU has to brought to the allotted college. Based on the merit and courses/colleges selected, DU allotment will be made. Candidates have to carry the hard copy of the submitted admission form of DU along with the documents for verification. The physical presence of the candidates along with the documents is needed as per the schedule and dates mentioned on the portal of DU admission– du.ac.in. Delhi University Ph.D. admission 2025 is governed by UGC Regulations as updated in 2016. DU Ph.D. admission 2025 is offered under 52 academic departments at the doctorate level in both full-time and part-time mode. The University conducts its own entrance test and PI to offer admission to MPhil and Ph.D. programmes. All candidates applying for MPhil/PhD have to register on the online admission portal by the last date as advertised by the University. Candidates must apply/register separately for each programme through the online portal. No candidate shall be eligible to register for the MPhil/Ph.D. programme if he/she is already registered for any full-time programme of study in any university/institution. DU MPhil and PhD Eligibility Criteria 2025
Candidates seeking Ph.D. admission in DU who have cleared MPhil coursework with at least 55% marks in aggregate (or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent) and have successfully completed the MPhil degree with at least 55% marks shall be eligible for appearing directly for the interview.
- A relaxation of 5%, from 55% to 50%, or equivalent relaxation of grade/ marks, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled
- Students who have cleared coursework of MPhil from Delhi University with at least 55% marks in aggregate may directly appear for interview to PhD without completing the MPhil Dissertation, if the candidate is interested in registering for PhD without completing MPhil Programme
- A student whose MPhil dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may appear directly for the interview to the Ph.D. programme
- Students possessing a degree considered equivalent to MPhil Degree of an Indian Institution with 55% marks or from any Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is recognised, approved or authorized by an authority, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme
Selection Criteria: MPhil/Ph.D. candidates will be admitted in a two-stage process through:
- An Entrance Test to be held once a year. In Departments/Centres offering both the programmes, this entrance test for M.Phil. and the Ph.D. programme will be a common one
- A Personal Interview (one or more if required for Ph.D.) in a year.
