West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board (WBJEE) will follow certain norms and rules that will be the foundation of the WBJEE 2020 Examination. These norms and rules are known as WBJEE Exam Pattern. Exam pattern helps the candidates to be aware of the subjects, marking scheme, etc. WBJEE Exam Pattern 2020 will include mode of examination, subject of examination, the pattern of question paper, mode of answering and so on. Since marking is done on the basis of the three subjects, the distribution of the marks as per the subject is given below:

Mode of Answering in WBJEE 2020 – Answer the question on a specially designed optical machine-readable response (OMR) sheet, which will be evaluated by the Optical Mark Recognition method. There will be four alternative answers for each question. Candidates need to darken the appropriate circle completely with a blue/ black ballpoint pen. Response marking cannot be edited/ changed/ erased/ modified. WBJEE Exam Pattern 2020 and Marking Scheme
The authority follows certain rules to calculate the marks. There will be three categories in the question paper. Categories are made as per the variation in the marks. The WBJEE Exam Pattern 2020 Marking Scheme is as given below.
Category–I | a) One option is correct. b) The correct response will yield a 1 (one) mark. c) The incorrect response will yield –1/4 (25% negative) marks. d) For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks. e) Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks. |
Category–II | a) Only one option is correct. b) The correct response will yield 2(two) marks. c) The incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks. d) For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks. e) Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks. |
Category–III | a) One or more options may be correct. b) Only all Correct responses will yield 2 (two) marks. c) Any combination of correct and wrong response will be treated as incorrect and will yield a 0 (zero) mark. d) For partially correct response, marks awarded will be = 2 x (no. of correct options marked ÷ total no. of correct options). e) Not attempting the question will fetch zero marks. |
WBJEE 2020 Offline Exam Instructions
Candidates are advised to enter the examination centres at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the test, and candidates are advised to take their seats at least 15 minutes before the test. The WBJEE 2020 Question booklets will be distributed well before the commencement of the test. Take out the OMR sheet without breaking seals of the question booklet and check that your OMR number & question booklet number are the same. Upon receiving the WBJEE 2020 OMR Booklet, candidates will have to follow these instructions.
- Candidates will be required to put their signature on the top of the question booklet.
- Read the instructions given on OMR & on the cover page of the question booklet very carefully.
- Write the question booklet number & roll number on the OMR in a defined area.
- Wrong entry of question booklet number & roll number may lead to rejection of the OMR or wrong scoring, for which the Board will not remain responsible.
- If any candidate makes any mistake, he/ she must not overwrite.
- Request the invigilator to strike it out & rewrite the correct numbers and put his/ her signature.
- Darken appropriate bubbles of question booklet number & Roll number.
