The Department of Health & Family Welfare of West Bengal Government conducts the counselling for admission to undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme in the medical college/Institute of state West Bengal. The authority does not conduct its own entrance examination. It conducts online counselling based on NEET rank and score. Aspirants have to qualify through the NEET UG 2018 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in order to participate in the counselling procedure.
The official counselling body of West Bengal is responsible to conduct counselling for 85% state quota seats only. However, remaining 15% of the seats will be filled via central medical counselling committee.

Important Dates and Updates Regarding WB MBBS 2018
The dates of the important events related to West Bengal MBBS 2018 is scheduled to release after the declaration of NEET UG Results 2018. The NEET UG Results 2018 is going to release on 5th June 2018 in online mode. Candidates need to fill up the application form to participate in the counselling cum admission process. Eligibility Criteria WB MBBS 2018
To participate in the counselling procedure, aspirants are required to possess certain eligibility criteria. Aspirants must be aware of the eligibility criteria before going to apply for MBBS programme.

Proforma 1: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates residing in the state of West Bengal continuously for at least last 10 years.
Proforma 2: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates residing in the state of West Bengal continuously for at least last 10 years as on 31st Dec 2017 where the candidate has passed/will appear 10+2 examination in the year 2018.
NOTE: Proforma 2 must be signed and certified by the Head Master/Principal/Head of the Institution form which the candidate has passed or will appear 10+2 exam in 2018.
Proforma 3: Residential/Domicile certificate for candidates not residing in the state West Bengal but whose parent having their permanent home address within West Bengal on 31st Dec 2017. The parent whose domicile is placed must also produce original voter ID card or Aadhar card or passport for additional proof of domicile during the document verification where the said ID cards show the residential address is in West Bengal.
NOTE: Proforma 1 and 3 must be signed and certified by any of the competent authority of the state or central govt. having local jurisdiction of the place of permanent residence of the candidate or the parent.

WB MBBS 2018 Application Form
Applicants are instructed to go through the eligibility criteria once before filling up the application form. To apply for West Bengal MBBS 2018 consists of four steps. Applicants can fill up the application form online at the official website from 2nd week of July to 3rd week of July 2018. Correction in Application Form: The Applicants can modify/change/edit in the application form by clicking on the “previous” button. But once the application form is submitted, then there is no facility to rectify/modify the details provided on the application form.
Document Verification For WB MBBS 2018
Candidates who filled up the application form and the paid the counselling fee are required to report at the counselling venue for document verification. The document verification will be conducted in the 3rd week of July 2018. They need to produce/submit the below-mentioned documents/certificates at any one of the three counselling venue mentioned below

Document/Certificates required to produce in original along with one self-attested copy of the same:-
- Domicile certificate (Anyone mentioned in the “eligibility criteria section”.
- Voter card/ Aadhar card/ Passport of parent/s in case of domicile certificate of the parent is showing the address as West Bengal (any two of the three ID cards as mentioned here).
- Caste Certificate (as applicable).
- Physically Handicapped certificate issued by IPGMER Kolkata (if applicable).
- Age Proof (Birth Certificate/ Class 10 admit card)

Merit List For WB MBBS 2018
The Department of Health & Family Welfare determines and prepares the merit list for admission of applicants to MBBS programme in the colleges/Institution of the state West Bengal. Merit list of WB MBBS Admission 2018 is expected to be published in the 3rd week of July 2018.
Merit list is prepared by considering the following factors:-
- Number of applicants applied for MBBS programme
- Seat availability
- Marks and Rank obtained in the NEET 2018 exam.
Merit list contains the names of shortlisted candidates eligible for choice locking and counselling. If the registered candidate does not find his/her name on the merit list, then they are not eligible for the admission.

Choice Filling and Locking
Those candidates whose names appear in the merit list must select the colleges carefully and make a list according to their preference. They must choose, save and lock the list online in the last week of July 2018 by visiting the official website. The choice of college once filled and locked by the applicants, then they cannot make any changes/edit in the preference of colleges later on.
WB MBBS 2018 Seat Allotment Procedure
The applicants will be allotted seats based on the merit list and choice of colleges made by them. Generally, two rounds of counselling take place. A “mop-up” round is conducted if the seat remains vacant. Candidates must check the seat allotment list online to find out whether their name appears in the list. Applicants must report to the college allotted to him/her along with the necessary documents. They also have to pay the academic fee to confirm their seats.

Seat Reservation under WB MBBS 2018
The government of state West Bengal reserves a certain percentage of the total seats for the candidates belonging to reserved categories in all the Colleges /Institute affiliated with the Department of Health & Family Welfare. Applicants must choose their category from the drop-down list while filling up the online application form. Reserved category here indicates the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste(SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC) etc.
Students claiming reservation are required to produce valid supporting documents at the time of counselling in order to avail the benefit of reserved seats, failing which the category claim will not be granted.
