Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS Admission 2019: Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission procedure has been started. However, the last date for the registration process is June 21st. The whole admissions procedure will majorly include application form submission, the release of merit list, selection of college preference, counseling and seat allotment, and admission fee payment. Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Tamil Nadu will be conducting around 85% of Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission for the academic session of 2019-20. Candidates who are interested in pursuing their medical under graduation from the state of Tamil Nadu will have to apply for the Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2019 from the official website of DME Tamil Nadu. The applications will be released on the official website of DME during the 2nd week of June 2019.

Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS Admission 2019

  • Tamil Nadu 2019 MBBS Admissions will be taken care of Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Tamil Nadu.
  • MBBS and BDS admissions in Tamil Nadu’s governmental and privatized colleges/institutions will be done on the basis of NEET score secured by candidates.
  • There will be around 4600 seats offered for both MBBS and BDS programmes in around 40 government and private medical and dental colleges/institutes/universities.
  • Directorate of Medical Education (DME) will be responsible for the admissions for about 85% of total applicants. The rest 15% will be taken care by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).
  • Programmes offered include Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS).

Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who meet the relevant requirements based on the guidelines set forth by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) can consider filing the application form. Eligibility Criterions are set forth in order to screen out candidates who do not meet certain basic standard. Given below are the general Eligibility guidelines for candidates.

Candidates must be a citizen of India.

Other than that, candidate who holds an Overseas Citizen of India Card can also apply.

Domicile Factor
Candidates seeking admissions for the medical programmes must satisfy the domicile criteria of Tamil Nadu, i.e. students with either roots in Tamil Nadu, who have spent considerable amount of years in the state of Tamil Nadu, and has done their schooling from Tamil Nadu will be considered eligible.

Candidates who are not a domicile of Tamil Nadu are only eligible for private management quota.

Age Factor
The minimum age required to apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2019 admissions is 17th years.

The age limit will be 25 years for candidates belonging to General and OBC categories.

There will be an age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST categories, i.e. SC/ST candidates can apply till 30 years of age.

Qualifying Examination
Qualifying examination will be National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) according to the new notifications released by MHRD and Tamil Nadu state government.

Other than that, candidates must have passed 10+2 from State Board of Tamil Nadu or equivalent.

Qualifying Subjects
Candidates who have studied 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology are eligible for seek admission.

Other than that, proficiency in English will be considered desirable.

Qualifying Marks/Percentage
Candidates must have cleared 10+2 examination with a combined aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

A relaxation of 5% is available for the PWD Candidates. Similarly, a 10% Relaxation is available for the Reserved Categories.

Registration Process of Tamil Nadu NEET Admission 2019

Once the eligibility criterion is met, the next step would be to fill the application form and submit them before the registration window closes. Candidates who are interested in applying for the Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2019 under the state quota will have to fill the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS Application Form. The Application Form was available on 7th June 2019. However, the last date to apply was 20th June 2019.

To successfully get registered, candidates are required to download the application form from the official website of Directorate of Medical Education (DME). After downloading the form, candidates must fill up the relevant information which is being asked. The completed application is to be posted to the selection committee at 162, Periyar EVR High Road. The applications are to be sent along with 3 recent passport size photographs and post titled as ‘Application for MBBS/BDS Course – 2019 Session’. After filling the form, application fee payment is to be made in favor of the following address.

Tamil Nadu MBBS Application Fee –Candidates have to make the payment of the application form through Demand Draft. The amount will be INR 500 for all candidates.

Tamil Nadu MBBS 2019 Merit List

The Tamil Nadu MBBS merit list will be prepared and released by Directorate of Medical Education (DME) for admission to undergraduate MBBS/BDS programmes in the medical colleges/institutions of the state of Tamil Nadu. Seat allotment will be based on the ranks secured by candidates in the Merit List. Merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2019 will be available on 2nd July 2019. However, the Merit list is prepared considering various factors such as the number of candidates that have applied for admission, NEET score, and seat intake. Merit List contains the names of the candidates who are eligible for the admission.

Tamil Nadu MBBS 2019 Counseling

Candidates who clear the NEET examination and who meet the relevant requirements will be considered for the preparation of Merit List. Candidates considered in the merit list will be able to participate in the Tamil Nadu MBBS Counselling process. Tamil Nadu MBBS 2019 counseling will be conducted from the first week of July 2019. While applying for the Tamil Nadu MBBS Admission 2019, candidates will have to select their preferences of colleges for pursuing their medical under graduation. Candidates will be notified regarding the counseling time and venue via mail by the counseling conducting body. Students will have to reach on time at said venue with all the relevant documents.

  • Class XII mark sheet and passing certificate.
  • Class X mark sheet and passing certificate
  • Age Proof (Birth Certificate/ Class 10 admit card).
  • ID Proof such as copy of Voter card/ Aadhar card/ Passport.
  • Caste Certificate and category certificate (if applicable).
  • Copy of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2019 Fee transaction slip and Tamil Nadu 2019 MBBS Application form.
