JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020

National Testing Agency (NTA) has arranged the exam pattern of JEE Main for the candidates who will be appearing in the JEE Main 2020 examination. NTA JEE Main consists of two papers, i.e. Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is the threshold for courses including BE/ B.Tech and Paper II is the threshold for candidates who would like to go for B.Arch/ Planning. Candidates, at the time of filling up of JEE Main application form, will be able to opt for either of these papers or both. The exam will be conducted both in online mode, i.e. computer-based tests and offline, i.e. pen and paper tests. Paper, I will be completely online, whereas paper II will be partly online and partly offline.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Shifts

A part of the JEE Main exam pattern is the schedule and timings for the exams to be conducted. This information will be helpful for candidates at the time of the examination. Even though jee main official notification regarding the exam shifts and timings are yet to be released, we can infer from the jee main 2019 exam pattern that is being followed. Given below is the schedule for the JEE Main 2020 as per the inference is drawn from the jee main 2019.

  • Mode of Examination – Paper I will be a computer-based standardized test, whereas, Paper-II will be bifurcated into both online mode and offline mode and online. Aptitude Test and Mathematics section in Paper-II will be an online computer-based standardized test and the Drawing section in Paper-II will be a pen and paper-based examination.
  • The timing of Examination – JEE Main 2020 is taking place in two sessions, i.e. first shift and second shift. The first shift will be from 09:30 hours to 12:30 hours and the second shift will be from 14:30 hours to 17:30 hours.
  • Duration of the Exam – Applicants of the Jee Main will have to attempt their examination in 3 hours.
  • Entry Timings – Candidates must reach on or before 07:30 hours for the first shift as the entry will be carried out from 07:30 hours to 08:30 hours and the candidates must reach on the venue on or before 12:30 for the second shift as the entry will be carried out from 12:30 hours till 13:30 hours.
