Gauhati University Registration 2025

The candidates who aspire to pursue any degree course must Register through the online admission process. After filling the Gauhati University Registration Form 2025 the students must check the Gauhati University Exam Time Table. The university conducts a written Entrance Test for PhD courses, and the selection of UG and PG courses takes place on the basis of merit. However, the mode of the application form is online. Gauhati University Entrance Test 2025

The university conducts a written entrance test for giving admission to PhD, Postgraduate and BEd. courses. The university offers various UG/PG Degree courses in which the candidates can enrol themselves. The Entrance Test takes place in the first week of July. Therefore, the students who have filled the Gauhati University Admission Form must check the Dates of the Entrance Test. The GU Entrance Test takes place offline for a duration of Two Hours. The Application Form of Gauhati University will be in an online mode. Therefore, all the applicants must read the Brochure and the instructions very carefully before applying for Gauhati University Admission. Gauhati University Eligibility Criteria For General Category (GN)

B.Ed. Course

A candidate must have passed the B.A / B.Sc. / B.Com. or MA/ MSc/M.Com or equivalent degree programme form a recognised Board/University with a minimum of 50% marks for the general category or 45% for SC/ST/OBC categories.

MA and MSc Courses

  • Candidates require a B.A./B.Sc. degree under the 10+2+3 pattern with a major/Hons. In the concerned subject. OR

  • Candidates with a B.Com degree under the 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 40% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the general course are also eligible.

  • 45% marks will be calculated like this – Marks secured in Part-I & II for courses in 2 + 1-pattern and on the basis of marks obtained in Part I, II, & III if under 1 + 1 + 1-pattern.

M. Com Course

  • Candidates with a BCom degree under the 10 + 2 + 3-pattern with Major course will be eligible. OR

  • Candidates with a B.A./B.Sc. under the 10+2+3 pattern with a general or pass course subjects with a minimum of 45% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the concerned subject will be eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

M.A. in Comparative Literature

Candidates will need a B.A. degree in any modern Indian language or English to be eligible.

M.A. Linguistics

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, Commerce are eligible. However, there are certain applicable conditions as well

  • Candidates should have done their major or honours in English a minimum of 40% marks or equivalent CGPA. OR

  • Those candidates who have not done their majors or honours in English should have secured a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in English as a subject.

M.A. Psychology

Candidates will require a bachelor’s degree with :

  • A major/honours in any of the following subjects – Philosophy, Psychology, Education, Home Science, Social Work

OR

  • In Medical Science (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS degrees) or in nursing.

M.A. Sociology

Candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or CGPA.

M.A/.M.Sc. Statistics

Candidates need a bachelor’s degree with:

  • Hons./Major in Statistics with Maths as the general subject. OR

  • At least 45% marks in Statistics as a general subject and Math as a general subject. OR

  • A major/Hons. In Maths with Statistics as a general subject.

  • Hons./major in Economics with Math and Statistics as general subjects.

M.Sc. Biotechnology

Candidates require a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% Marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Major / Honours in Science with

  • A bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology OR

  • A bachelor’s degree with a major/Zoology with Chemistry honours in Botany as general subjects. OR

  • A bachelor’s degree with honours or major in Chemistry with Botany/Zoology as a general subject

M.Sc. Cancer Biology

The candidate requires a bachelor’s degree with –

  • A bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. or equivalent) in Science with Honours in Biotechnology/Zoology/Biochemistry. OR

  • A bachelor’s degree (BTech or equivalent) in BAMS/BVSC/MBBS/Biotechnology with 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

M.Sc. in Radiological Physics
Candidates require a bachelor’s degree in science with a major in physics with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA.

M.Sc. Nursing

Candidates require a bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a minimum of 55% with

  • Should have a registration number with ‘state nursing council of India’ OR

  • Must have working experience as a nurse.

M.Sc in Instrumentation and Applied Physics

Candidates require a bachelor’s degree with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science with honours in Electronics/Instrumentation/Physics Or

  • A bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics and Maths as general subjects with at least an aggregate of 50% marks (or an equivalent CGPA).

M.Sc. in Electronics, Advanced Communication Technology, Microelectronics

A candidate requires a bachelor’s degree with

  • A bachelor’s degree in science with Hons. In electronics OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in science with Hons. In Physics OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Math/Statistics/Chemistry with Electronics/Physics as a general subject.

M.Sc. in Environmental Science

The candidate requires a bachelor’s degree with a major in any science subject with at least 45% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

M.Sc. in Computer Science/Information Technology

A candidate requires a bachelor’s degree with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science with a major in Computer Science. OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science as a general subject. OR

  • A bachelor’s degree (technology or engineering) in IT/Computer Science. OR

  • A bachelor’s degree in science with a postgraduate diploma in Computer Science

  • A bachelor’s degree in BCA or B.Sc. in IT.

In addition to above, candidates must have studied and passed in Math under 10+2 and in college.

Candidate must have had a minimum of 45% as aggregate in a bachelor’s degree or 45% in majors in computer science.

Master of Library Science

Candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree in any course with at least 45% marks in either the Hons./major course or general course.

How To Fill Gauhati University Application Form?

The Admission Council of the university will release the Application Form of Gauhati University 2025 in the third week of April or May in online mode at gauhati.ac.in. Hence, the step by step process to fill in the form is as follows.

Step 1. Registration

  • In this step, the candidates must visit the official website of Gauhati University (www.gauhati.ac.in)

  • Then after the candidates must click on ‘Admission’. The Admission Notice appears in the highlights/latest updates section on the portal.

  • Now, enter your valid email ID and mobile number.

  • The user ID and password will be sent to the registered email IDs and mobile numbers of candidates

Step 2. Filling the Gauhati University Application Form 2020

  • In this second step of filling the Application Form, the applicants must Click on ‘Proceed to Application’ option

  • Then enter all the personal, academic details

  • Also, enter your preferences of degree and college

Step 3. Upload documents

  • This stage includes the uploading the original documents of the applicants in the form of soft copy. The candidates must upload the scanned copies of the requisite images in the dimensions prescribed below

  • Finally, after uploading all the requisite documents, the applicants must pay the Gauhati University application fee using the e-payment link. Please note that the officials will not accept the Application Form without the payment of fees. Therefore, in order to complete the application process, the candidates must pay the applicable fees.
