  5. Previous years’ cut-off trend

NTA JEE Main Cutoff Trend Analysis

JEE Main Cut off Trend 2017

Sr. No. Category Cut off
1General81
2OBC NCL49

4ST27

JEE Main Cut off Trend 2016

Sr. No. Category Cut off
1General100
2OBC NCL70
3SC52
4ST48

Some of the factors that can be kept in mind are:

  • The difficulty level of the exam as compared to previous years.
  • The number of candidates taking the exam every year.
  • The performance level of candidates in JEE Main exam.

Trend Analysis for past years

There is a particular trend that can be seen after analyzing the past years. The cut off released for general category candidates in 2016 was 100 which dipped down to 81 in the year 2017. This could be due to the following reasons.

  1. The JEE Main 2019 is getting tougher.
  2. The number of qualifying candidates are increasing. For instance, in 2018, the number of qualifying candidates was increased from 2,24,000 from 2,20,000.
  3. The performance of candidates if taken overall is lowering down. This may be because there are a large number of coaching institutes and that not all students can afford these coaching institutes.
