JEE Main 2021 Application Form Highlights, and Mistakes To Avoid While Filling The Form

A list of important things is there related to the application form. So read the facts before heading towards the JEE Main Registration Form.

  • JEE Mains Application Form can be filled only through the online mode.
  • The candidate has the option to apply for one session or more than one session together and pay the exam fees accordingly. Like for example, if a candidate is willing to pay for one session, then he/she has to pay for that session only during the current application period. Later, he/she will have the opportunity to apply again for the rest of the sessions (March/April/May).
  • The JEE Main application window will be re-opened soon after the declaration of the result of the February/March/April session.
  • The examination for the May Session is the last exam of the academic year. The fees can also be carried forward to another session of JEE Main 2021.
  • If in case, the candidate does not want to appear in any one of the sessions for which he/she has already paid will be refunded back. For this, the candidate has to make a request only during the application process of the session he/she wants to withdraw.
  • Multiple application forms for the same session are not accepted by NTA.
  • The exam schedule (timings) have been changed. The exam dates of all four sessions have been released.
  • One can pay the application fee through an online mode only.
  • Now candidates don’t require to have the name and date in the image which has to be uploaded while filling the form.
  • Candidates must be careful while opting for the choice of language, city, and exam centre.

JEE Main 2021 Registration Statistics

  • The National Testing Agency has released the JEE Main 2021 Notification on 16th December 2020.
  • The Application Fees for General/Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL for a Single paper is Rs 650/-. Whereas, for Girls, ST, SC Transgender, there is a relaxation of 50%. Thus, they have to pay Rs 325/- for a single paper.
  • Around 9.34 Lakh Candidates had registered for JEE Main January 2020 Session, out of which 15,247 Women had registered for JEE Main.
  • A total of 81,413 candidates have applied from EWS Category.

Am I Eligible For JEE Main 2021?

In order to fill the JEE Main Online application form 2021, candidates have to be eligible for it. NTA set some eligibility criteria for the students appearing in the 2021 session. Without having the eligibility set by the NTA, no one can apply for the NTA JEE Main. Let’s look at the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2021.

  • Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear in the exam. Candidates who have passed Class 12th or equivalent in 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021 can also apply.
  • Nationality: Indian Nationals, as well as International Applicants, are also eligible to appear JEE Main. However, International Candidates from foreign countries must obtain the necessary marks from the board of the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Attempt Limits: There is no attempt limit to appear the test.
  • JEE Advanced: Candidates who were not able to appear in JEE Advanced 2020 due to COVID-19 can now directly appear in the JEE Advanced 2021 without taking the JEE Main 2021 exam.

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates who have passed 12th Class or its equivalent in 2019, and 2020 from a recognized Board or University are eligible for the exam.
  • Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are appearing 12th in 2021 are also eligible for the exam. However, the candidates who have passed 12th in 2018 or before but appearing for the exam in 2021 are not eligible for JEE Main Entrance Test.
  • Subjects To be Qualified: PCM for Paper 1 and for Paper 2 science is no longer the criteria. Candidates who have 12th in mathematics but not science can apply for B.Planning. However, for B.Arch, candidates must have PCM in the 12th Class, and for B.Plan, the student must have passed Class 12th with Maths as a compulsory subject.
  • Diploma Eligibility: Candidates who are holding Diploma are also eligible to apply. Such Candidates are eligible for admissions in IITs only.

JEE Main 2021 State Code of Eligibility

  • Candidates have to fill the State Code of Eligibility at the time of the Registration Process. They have to choose the state code of eligibility from which they have passed their 12th Exam.
  • The JEE Main State Eligibility Code does not depend upon the Native or the Residence Place of the Candidate.
  • For the candidates who have passed Class 12th from abroad, their State Code of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of the Permanent Address of India provided in the passport.

How To Apply For JEE Main 2021 Registration Form?

The candidates have to follow certain procedures in order to fill the form. But before that look at the important documents required to fill the form. Step 1: Registration

Visit the official site of the JEE Main and locate the link for the JEE Main 2021 online registration. Click on the application form link and go through the instructions carefully before filling. In the registration, process candidates have to fill the personal as well as contact details. After that candidates have to create the password. In this way application no. will be generated. 3. Upload The Photograph & Signature

After entering the qualification and personal details, candidates have to upload the signature and photograph in the given format. The specification regarding the file size and dimension is mentioned above. If the photograph and signature file is not in the given format then the file will not be uploaded. So take care of the specification prescribed by NTA regarding the images.

4. Application Fee Payment

The application form is incomplete without the payment of the JEE Main application fee. The payment will take place in an online mode only. The payment can be done by debit card/credit card/net banking.

How Can A Reserved Category Student Fill The JEE Main 2021 Application Form?

The process for the reserved category to fill the form is the same as the general category only two differences are there which the candidates have to take note is: Category and Application Fee. The steps are:

  • Do the registration for the JEE Main 2021
  • While filing the application form, there will be an option for the “Category”. In that category option reserved category, students must select the category which they belong to.

(Note that students must have the caste certificate to claim the reservation. The caste certificate is not meant to be uploaded but during the counselling procedure the students must have the cast certificate) 

  • Rest of the process takes place as usual but while paying the application fee, candidates must pay it as per the categorized application fee

How To Check The JEE Main Application & Payment Status 2021?

The registered candidates can check their application and payment status anytime by login into their accounts. In order to log in, candidates have to use their jee main application number and password/ D.O.B. Candidates after filling the form must check the application status. This is helpful to those who at some point in time while filling the application form, enter the wrong information. In the status, the candidates must check whether all the information entered is correct or not. If it is correct then ok otherwise in order to make a correction the candidate has to wait till NTA activates the link for the JEE Main application correction.

In case of the application fee payment, if the payment is done then it, ok but if the fee is not paid and the amount deducted from the account then candidates have to make another payment.

What If I Forgot My JEE Main Application No. & Password?

Many times after filling the application form, candidates forget or misplace their application no. or password. In such a situation the candidates have to follow the steps given below to retrieve the application no. and password.

  • Click on “I forgot my JEE Main application form number” button.
  • Candidates have to enter the details required such as name, mother’s name, father’s name, date of birth, state of eligibility and security pin.

  • Locate and click the  JEE Main candidate login window at the official site of JEE Main.
  • They must click on “I can’t access my account” button.
  • Next, click on “I forgot my password” option.

By Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to the candidate’s registered mobile number.

Candidates must fill the application form in one session with the correct details. However, candidates do mistakes while filling the form. National Testing Agency provides one last chance for the correction in the application form after the application procedure is over. The link is provided by the NTA on the official website of the JEE Main. During the application correction process, candidates can edit details such as paper, personal details, category, name, state of eligibility, etc. Check the segment in which JEE Main Application Correction can be done here:

  • Personal Details: Spelling mistakes in name, parent’s name, etc can be corrected.
  • Academic Details: School details, year of passing, qualifying exam.
  • Exam Centres: A change in the exam centre can also be done.
  • Examination language: The language can be changed from English to Hindi/Gujarati and vice versa.
  • Category: Candidates can also change their category. If the candidates change their category from general to reserved, then fees will not be refunded. If candidates change their category from reserved to general, they will have to pay the balance fee
  • Change of Paper: The choice of paper from Paper 1 to Paper 2 as well as from Paper 2 to Paper 1. If candidates have applied for one paper and wish to apply for both papers they can do so on payment of the balance fee.

  4. Sir,yesterday i was filling up the online form jee,i was on the last step of filling ,i uploaded my photos and info but as soon as i click the final submit option, there came a error ‘oops! We cant submit yor form,there a site managing problem,pls try again after few time.’ There was no internet issue.we tried two three times to again fill the whole form, but than the errors came ‘This phone number is already loginned, this email id is already loginned, etc..we tried to change email id and phone number but everytime a new error comes..Pls revert how i now fill my whole form safely and completely

    • First, log out from all the devices from where you had tried to log in for JEE Main application form. Log in again and try resetting your password. If the error still persists, do let us know.

  5. My date of birth in birth certificate is 22nd feb 2002 but it is misprinted in my aadhar card it is 22nd feb 2001 .
    Will i be able to fill the form?Will there be any issue later.?

    • Hi, please note that the Aadhar card is not necessary for JEE Main Application form filling. Since there is a misprint on your Aadhar card, it is better suggested to not use the Aadhar as your Id proof.

    • IIITs mein apply JEE Main k through kar saktey ho jiske liye koi age limit nahi h.

      JEE Main qualify karke JEE Advanced 2019 (admission to IITs only) ka exam dena hai toh Candidates should have been born on or after October 1,1993. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1988.

MY HOME TOWN IS KARNATAKA, AND IAM POSTED IN TELENGANA AS IAM WORKNG IN PUBLIC SECTOR UNDER THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE, MY DAUGHER IS STUDYING IN TELENGANA SINCE BEGINING I HAVE AN OBC CERTIFICATE ISSUED FROM KARNATAKA STATE . BUT THE CASTE DOES NOT EXIST IN TELENGANA. 1) CAN I CLAIM THE QUOTA IN TELENGAN WITH THE CERTIFICATE ISSUED IN KARNATAKA . 2) CAN I CLAIM HOME STATE QUOTA IN KARNATAKA STATE AS WELL AS IN TELENGANA. KINDLY SUGGEST ME in this regard.

    • 1) No, you cannot claim the quota in Telangana with a certificate from Karnataka.
      2) Candidates of JEE Main who have passed class XII from a particular state and have cleared the examination will come under home state quota. Therefore, you can claim the home state quota of Telangana only.

    • Hi Asadnur,

      As per section 5.1 of Information Brochure released by NTA, Aadhar is mandatory and you have to apply for one. Quoting Information Brochure below

      5.1Provision of AADHAAR:
      (i) The use of Aadhaar for the candidates of JEE (Main)-2019 will result in accuracy of the candidates‟ details.
      This will also help in ascertaining identities of the candidates at the examination centres in a convenient and
      hassle free manner. Aadhaar obviates the need for producing multiple documents to prove one‟s identity.
      (ii) The provisions of the Aadhaar Act and Regulations under the Act have come into effect from 14th September
      2016 and notifications to this effect have been published in the Official Gazette. Section 57 of the Aadhaar Act
      2016 permits the use of Aadhaar number for establishing the identity of an individual for any purpose pursuant
      to any law or any contract to this effect.
      (iii)Accordingly, NTA has decided to use Aadhaar for the candidates of JEE (Main)-2019, and hereby notifies the
      following:
      (a) Candidates, who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall enter Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender
      in online application for JEE (Main)-2019 for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.
      (b) Candidates not yet enrolled for Aadhaar, are hereby required to make application for Aadhaar enrolment in
      case he/she is entitled to obtain Aadhaar as per section 3 of Aadhaar Act. Such applicant may visit any
      Aadhaar enrolment centre (list available at http://www.uidai.gov.in) to get enrolled for Aadhaar.
      (c) The candidates who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received Aadhaar should enter 14 digit
      Aadhaar Enrolment ID (Including slash) printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip at the time of filling online
      application form for JEE(Main)-2019.
