UGC Scholarship

UGC Scholarship: Students who want to apply for UGC Scholarship can apply online. To apply for UGC Scholarship, students must have to register on National Scholarship Portal. UGC won’t accept any offline applications. University Grants Commission (UGC), India is a reputed statutory body, responsible for the standard of University education in India. It was set up in 1956. Under HRD ministry, Indian Union Government established UGC to enhance university-level education. By providing fascinating scholarship, UGC ensures that needy and meritorious students complete their study and choose a career of their choice.

UGC Scholarships are mostly means based excluding Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank holder. University Grants Commission offers Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship on the basis of candidate’s merit. As lots of time and efforts involve for research purpose, most scholarships are for proficient aspirants having Masters Degree and willing to go for field research. Generally, UGC Scholarship goes directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries, but in some scholarships, students receive the benefit of the scholarship through their institutes and the institutions in return get Departmental Assistance from UGC for providing the required facility to the student.

UGC Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

As the eligibility criteria of each scholarship offered are different, aspiring beneficiaries are advised to check eligibility criteria before applying for UGC Scholarship 2019.

  • Candidates who cleared 10+2 or hold Graduate / Post Graduate / PhD. degree from board/university recognized by education authority of India can apply for UGC Merit Scholarship.
  • One who is well versed in spoken and written English will be given UGC Scholarship.
  • The nationality of Candidates should be Indian
  • Maximum Age Criteria for a male candidate is 45 years. UGC has set the maximum age of 50 for UGC single girl child scholarship.

How to apply for UGC Scholarship 2019?

All the applications for UGC Scholarship will be submitted through online mode. Candidates can submit the UGC Scholarship form from National Scholarship Portal. As there are so many scholarship and fellowship, candidates are expected to be confused. To get rid of such possible confusion, we have mentioned the entire list of UGC scholarship in the 2nd section of this article. Go through the list and choose what will be the best for you. We have also provided the steps by step guide on how to apply for UGC Scholarship online.

  • Go to the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • Find the new registration button and click on it.
  • Go through the entire guidelines and continue.
  • Fill the entire application form by providing basic details, bank details and Aadhar details.
  • Register by re-checking the information you have provided in the form.

Candidates should provide valid information in the application form. If UGC finds any in-correction, the application form will be rejected. We also advise candidates to register only once. Multiple submission will be considered invalid.

Allocation of UGC Scholarship

UGC will allocate UGC Scholarship via DBT (Direct Beneficiary Transfer) from July 2019. Based on the candidate’s Aadhar Number the awards will be allocated. Aadhar Number will be used as a proof of scholarship allocation. In case students won’t get UGC Scholarship or fellowship, they can visit the UGC Office between 11 a.m. to 12 noon and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
