About IITP

Indian Institute of Technology Patna was established in the year 2008 by an Act of Parliament. It is a public institution of engineering and research. The institute provides education specifically in the field of Engineering, Sciences and Humanities and Social Sciences. Initially, IITP was mentored by IIT Guwahati. The Government of India hence recognized the institute as an Institute of National Importance. According to the NIRF recent nationwide ranking, IIT Patna is ranked 10th best engineering institute in India. IITP is currently functioning at its permanent campus which is located in Bihta. The premises of the institute is within the space of 500 acres of land.

IIT Patna Admission Process

IITP mainly grants admission depending upon the cutoff of IIT Patna. However, aspirants also have to fulfill any of the following conditions:

  • For admission in B.Tech program, the candidate must have qualified JEE Main and after that, they must have appeared in JEE Advanced. Also, they must secure a valid rank based on which they are offered admission through counselling of JoSAA.
  • The admission in M.Tech program is based on the score obtained in GATE.
  • General category aspirants must have secured 75% in class 12th. Whereas SC/ST/PwD category aspirants must have secured at least 65%.
  • The desiring candidate must be one of the top 20 percentiles of class 12th board exams.
