Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, is popularly known as the SASTRA university. SASTRA University was the first institution to get the ‘Deemed University status in Tamil Nadu. The university was established in the year 1984. It offers more than 70 courses in UG, PG, and Doctorate programmes.

Admission Procedure of Shanmugha University
The university conducts admissions every year. However, the selection process is different for each course. Sastra University does not conduct any entrance test to offer admission. So, here candidates can check the Sashtra University selection process of all the course programmes.

Sastra University 2025 Application Form
The university releases application form online and offline. The admission form releases on the official website – sastra.edu. The offline application form for all the candidates is also available at the university campus in Thanjavur or Kumbakonam from the selected branches of City Union Bank. Candidates who satisfy the criteria can fill and submit the application form. However, candidates must note that the form has to be submitted before the deadline date. The Sastra University Application Form comprise personal and educational details.
The application fee is Rs 600/- and can be paid offline as well as online through Internet Banking, Credit or Debit card. If paying offline, then the DD must be sent to the Office of Admissions, SASTRA University, Thanjavur – 613 401, Tamil Nadu.
SASTRA Shanugha University Merit List
The university releases a merit list for the courses such as B.A, B.Sc, M.A, B.Com etc. The merit list will be released on the official website of the university. Candidates who have submitted the application form can check the merit list. The Sastra University merit list determines the qualification status of the candidates. Applicants whose name is on the merit list are eligible for the counselling process.
Sastra University B.Tech Rank List 2025
The university releases the rank list for the B.Tech students. The selection for the B.Tech course programmes is based on the jee main scores. Hence, candidates who qualify for the JEE Main 2025 exam, can apply for the B.tech admission here. However, the selection of the students is done based on the rank and scores in jee main. Candidates can check the Sastra University B.Tech rank list result on the website.
Candidates listed under the rank list of the stream will be called for admission to fill 70% of seats. Candidates will be able to participate in the counselling session if their names appear on the rank list.

Shanugha University Counselling 2025
The counselling takes place soon after the release of the merit list. The procedure of the Sastra University counselling first takes place online. The candidates will be required to register themselves for the counselling. The counselling will be conducted in offline mode and all the registered candidates will be required to be present physically for the counselling. The event takes place for two to three days depending on the availability of the seats.
There will be more than one rounds of counselling depending on the number of vacant seats after each round of counselling. All the shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the counselling session with the necessary documents listed below:
Documents required at the time of counselling
Candidates have to carry the following documents at the time of admission counselling.
- 10+2th standard equivalent mark sheet
- JEE Main/ GATE/CLAT Score Card (depending on the course applied for).
- Demand Draft in favour of SASTRA, payable at Thanjavur
- Recent Passport Size Photograph
- Transfer Certificate from the institute last attended
- Migration Certificate (if applicable)
