Eligibility Criteria for Pharmacy Course After 12th

Diploma Pharmacy Course

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.) – 2 years

• Sr. Secondary (10+2) in PCM/PCB with minimum 50% marks (General Category), 45% (Reserved Category)

Undergraduate Pharmacy Courses 

1. Bachelor in Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) – 4 years

• completed their 12th class from a recognized national/state level board.
• studied in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, as well as mathematics.
• aggregate marks should be above 50% for the General category and 45% for the Reserved category.

Pharmacy Course Curriculum and Syllabus

The curriculum and syllabus of the B.Pharma or D.Pharm. The course is designed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), a statutory body governing all the pharmacology courses in India. The curriculum follows the semester system and the entire program is covered in 4 semesters. The students are evaluated at the end of every semester through theory as well as practical examination. Some colleges also include a mandatory internship for a period of 6 months in the final semester of the course.

Admission in D.Pharm. Course

The admission into all the Pharmacy Courses in India is done through a written entrance test. Every college takes an entrance test and declares its list of eligible candidates. The selected candidates are then called for counseling and admission into the course by paying the fees. Some colleges also take admission through the merit process on the basis of marks scored in class 12th and then a round of personal interviews. Admission into postgraduate pharmacy courses is done through the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT). It is the famous national level entrance exam which score is accepted by maximum pharmacy institutions. For Doctoral courses, one needs to have prepared their topic of research and submit their proposal to the selection committee. They need to give a presentation and clear an interview round in order to enroll themselves in the Ph.D. Program.
