NEET Counselling 2025

NTA NEET Counselling for the 85% seats offered in private/ government medical and dental colleges is carried out by the respective state medical authorities. Candidates can check the date, time, and venue details of counselling on the official website of NTA (National Testing Agency). Moreover, the authorities also send notifications regarding the same. General Eligibility Criteria for NEET Counselling 2025

It is important that each of the students satisfies the eligibility criteria. The candidature of students who do not satisfy the eligibility conditions gets canceled. However, the NEET Eligibility Criteria for State Quota and India Quota seats is slightly different. The eligibility conditions for both types of counselling are stated below.

All India Quota Seats – Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have passed the entrance exam. Wherein, he/ she must have scored the minimum qualifying marks and made it to the merit list.
  • Candidates belonging to the state of Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to participate in this counselling procedure.
  • Furthermore, students need to register online for the counselling round. Note that the registration process is time-bounded, hence ensure that you complete the registration process before the given time.

State Quota Seats – Eligibility Criteria

The State Quota Seats Eligibility Criteria may differ from institute to institute. Thus, you should check the official website of the respective institute for guidelines. The eligibility conditions for some of the reputed universities are described below.

  • Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) – The university reserves 50% of seats for the students who have studied from their schools in the last 3 years. Further, the leftover 50% of seats are available for all the qualified students.
  • Jamia Millia Islamia – The institute reserves 3 seats under the internal quota. In addition, these 3 seats can be claimed by the students who have passed from their schools. The other 47 seats are open to all.
  • Delhi University – 85% of institutional quota seats can be claimed by the students who have studied class 11 and 12th from a school located in Delhi.
  • BHU – The students who are eligible for All India Quota Seats can apply for BHU MBBS Counselling.

Changes Introduced in NEET Counselling 2025

The number of students appearing for the NEET Exam has increased over the years. Moreover, now as the NEET is merged with AIIMS and JIPMER, hence some changes have to be introduced. Thus, the changes made in the process are as follows:

  • Earlier, around 193 medical colleges participated in the NEET Counselling. However, the no. of medical colleges participating in counselling has now gone up to 235.
  • Thus, now as more institutes are participating in the process, the no. of seats available for admission has also increased. Now 4591 seats are available for admission under the All India Quota.
  • Furthermore, earlier some institutes conducted counselling separately. But, now the admission to all the institutes is through MCC Counselling only.

NTA NEET 2025 Counselling Procedure

The students taking part in the NTA NEET Counselling 2025 should have knowledge of the complete process. There are a few stages following which this round takes place. Candidates need to clear each stage successfully for selection. Further, the complete process is carried out by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The complete details about the procedure are available on their official website. The stages of counselling round are further as follows:

Online Registration

Only the students who register on time are eligible to take part in this admission process. The link to register for counselling is available on the official website of MCC (www.mcc.nic.in). Moreover, the link to register is activated for a limited period of time. Hence, ensure that you complete the process before the due date. Furthermore, candidates’ have to provide their roll number, Guardians’ Name, Candidates’ Name, and DOB to register successfully.

The information you provide during the registration is taken into consideration for the complete admission process. Therefore, make sure that you provide the correct information. In addition, do not forget to keep the login ID and Password safe after registration.

Counselling Fee Payment

After providing the asked information, the students then have to submit the counselling fee. Candidates who do not pay the fee are not allowed to take part in the counselling round. Choice Locking

After registering successfully, candidates have to lock their choices of preferences of institutes, in which they want to get admission. Note that the seats are allotted in one of the provided colleges only. Hence, ensure that you fill in the choices carefully. While choice filling, the list of medical colleges available for admission is displayed. Furthermore, note that you can choose as many options as you want. However, do not forget to save and lock the choices. Otherwise, you may face difficulty during the counselling process.

Seat Allotment

The NEET Seat Allotment List is released after each round of counselling. Moreover, the allotment list is published online on the official website of MCC. Candidates thus have to visit the website to check whether they have cleared the round or not. Furthermore, there could be two students of the same name. Thus, the students should check each detail present on the list to verify that they are the ones who have got the seat. The name of the allotted medical college and other details are available on the seat allotment list.

Further, the authorities also release the seat allotment letter. Candidates have to login first to download it. In addition, do not forget to take a printout of the letter as it is required during reporting. Candidates’ have to present it on the day of joining.

Counselling Letter

After the seat allotment process, the selected candidates can download the counselling letter. It is released in online mode on the official website of the authorities. Candidates have to enter their registration ID and password to download NEET Counselling Letter. Further, students need to carry this letter along on the joining day. It contains some of the important details about the allotted medical institute. Moreover, the date, time, and address of the reporting centre are present in the counselling letter as well. Thus, do not forget to carry a hardcopy of it along on the day of joining.

NEET 2025 – Rounds of Counselling

The rounds of counselling continue until all the seats are allotted. Wherein, the students are called for counselling as per their rank. The candidates of higher rank are eligible for the first round of counselling. Furthermore, if the seats are left after all the rounds, then mop-up counselling takes place. Candidates who would have successfully registered for counselling are eligible to take part in the process. Moreover, the rounds of counselling are as follows:

First Round of NEET Counselling 2025

The first round of counselling usually takes place in the month of June 2025. It begins soon after the result declaration. Moreover, the cutoff is high in the first round. Thus, students of higher rank in the merit list are eligible for this round. As per last years’ records, students who scored marks of more than 550 are eligible for NEET First Round of Counselling.

NEET-UG Second Round of Counselling

After the completion of the first round, the students of lower ranks are called for the second round of counselling. Moreover, also the students who couldn’t take part in the first round can appear for this round. Furthermore, students who score below 550 are eligible for this round. This process goes on until all the seats are allotted to students.

Mop-Up Round Counselling

The mop-up counselling takes place if the seats are left vacant even after the two rounds of counselling. In addition, the cutoff marks for this round is low as compared to the first two rounds. Candidates who are not able to participate in the first two rounds have a chance. Furthermore, NEET Mop-Up Counselling usually takes place in two rounds.

Information About NTA NEET 2025 State Counselling

The NEET 2025 State Counselling is for the 85% of seats reserved in state government medical colleges. Moreover, the state medical faculty releases a separate merit list to indicate the names of students eligible for state counselling. The state counselling is further conducted by the respective state counselling authorities only. NTA NEET Result 2025

The result is declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on its official website. It is released within a week or two after the entrance exam.
