KEAM Eligibility Criteria 2025
KEAM is an entrance examination that takes place in Kerala. Through KEAM, the candidates get admission into Architecture, Engineering, and Medical courses. The basic qualification required to appear for KEAM is passing class 12th or the students who are appearing for class 12th. However, only candidates with Indian nationality can give this examination. There are different factors for eligibility for different courses. The candidates need to check the eligibility criteria of their course and apply accordingly.
KEAM Age Limit Criteria
The applicants must be 17 years of age as of 31st December 2025. Moreover, there is no upper age limit for the courses, such as Engineering, Arch, and B.Phar courses.

KEAM Educational Qualifications
B.Tech programmes
All the candidates who wish to apply for B.Tech programmes through KEAM must meet the eligibility criteria given below.
- Candidates need to qualify for higher secondary examination of the Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics altogether.
- The candidates must score 50% marks in Mathematics individually.
- Candidates who have passed the higher secondary examination of the Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala with 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics altogether are eligible for admissions in the management quota.
- If the student has not studied Chemistry, then the candidate’s Computer Science marks will be taken into consideration.
- In case the candidate has not even studied Chemistry and Computer Science, then the marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology will be taken into consideration.
- However, if the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science, and Biotechnology, then the marks obtained by the candidate in Biology will be taken into consideration.
KEAM Nationality/ Nativity Criteria
- Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission into professional courses. Persons of Indian origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will be treated as Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. The candidates are seeking admission into professional will be categorized as Keralite, Non-Keralite I (NK I), and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).
- Keralite: Those candidates who are of Kerala origin are termed as Keralite. Children of AIS officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala cadre are deemed to be Keralites. However, they won’t be eligible for the Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
- Non-Keralite I (NK I): A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but meets any of the following conditions given below will come in the Non-Keralite I (NK I) category.
- KEAM Eligibility CriteriaA candidate who has completed a qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents belong to the Government of India/Defence Service posted to Kerala.
- The candidate who has finished a qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents who are serving/served the Government of Kerala for at least two years.
- A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but has been a resident of Kerala State for a period
of 5 years within the period of 12 years of his/her study. - A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but who has finished his/her school studies in
Kerala from standard VIII to XII.
- Non-Keralite Category II (NK II): Candidates who do not come under ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite
Category I’ will fall under the ‘Non-Keralite Category II’. Such candidates are eligible for admission to Government seats and Management quota seats in Engineering courses in Government Controlled Self financing Colleges. However, the candidates under this category will only be eligible for admission in the Government seats in Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges if the Keralite and Non-Keralite I category candidates are not available for admission.
NOTE: Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for
Engineering/Architecture courses. But they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
Certificates Required to Prove Nativity
- Keralites: In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen of Kerala origin for the
purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to upload one of the following
certificates to the online application.- The relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate of the candidate showing the place of birth in Kerala. OR
- The relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate of either of the parents of the
candidate showing Place of Birth in Kerala with a corroborative certificate to establish the
relationship between the parent and the candidate. OR - The relevant page of the Passport of the candidate, issued by the Government of India, showing
Place of Birth in Kerala or of either of the parents of the candidate showing Place of Birth in
Kerala with a corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and
the candidate. OR - A certificate of birth from the authority competent to register birth (Panchayat/Municipality
/Corporation) showing the candidate’s or either of the parents’ (in which case corroborative
certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate is necessary)
place of birth in Kerala, to be issued by a competent registering authority. OR - A certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to show that the candidate or his/her
father/mother was born in Kerala. [This is to be obtained in the prescribed format available
in the website] OR - A certificate from the competent authority showing that the parent of the candidate is an All
India Service officer allotted to Kerala cadre.
- Non-Keralites Category I (NK I): The candidates under this category need to provide any one of the following documents.
- A Certificate in the prescribed format obtained from the Head of the organization, where
the candidate’s parent (employee) is serving/served, and the ‘Certificate showing School
studies in Kerala for Standards XI & XII’ obtained from the Head of Institution where the
candidate underwent his/her qualifying course in Kerala to meet the nativity condition. - A certificate of residence from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to prove that the
candidate has been a resident of Kerala State for 5 years within a period of
twelve years of his/her study (to be obtained in the prescribed format). - A Certificate showing School Studies in Kerala from Std. VIII to XII obtained from the Head
of the educational institution in Kerala in the case of candidates who have undergone
school studies in Kerala to prove that the candidate has finished their studies in the
schools in Kerala from Std. VIII to XII.
- A Certificate in the prescribed format obtained from the Head of the organization, where
- Non-Keralites Category II (NK II): The candidates under this category should upload the ‘Certificate of Completion of Qualifying Examination’ in the prescribed format to prove their nativity or Passport issued by the Government of India to prove Indian citizenship to the online application.
Architecture Programmes
- The Candidates need to pass the higher secondary examination or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Board.
- In addition to this, those candidates who have passed a 10+3 Diploma in any stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects can also apply for KEAM 2025.
KEAM Application Form 2025
