The two-day strike will hit around 9 lakh aspirants who are going to take the national level examination JEE Main 2019. 10 central Trade Unions namely CITU, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, AIRF and NFIR had announced the general strike in September. According to NTA Director General Vineet Joshi, as of now, there is no plan to alter the exam schedule that has been announced. He said, “However, we will be holding a meeting to discuss the matter soon.”

Leaders of the trade union have said that they were unaware that the exam was going to be held on these dates. “This is a national strike that was announced quite early and no one had approached us with representations,” said INTUC State president R Chandrasekharan. He informed that it will not be possible now to postpone the dates.

If the general strike happens on the same day as JEE Main exam dates for 2019, a big fiasco will be created as JEE Main dates have already been advanced. Principal of Gregorian Public School Jayaprabha Pradeep said she was unaware of the issue but felt that there was very little the schools do about the issue. Just like other JEE Main aspirants and their parents, she hopes that the strike is postponed to some other dates.

There have been no further updates about the same as of now. Most coaching institutes, students and those connected with NTA JEE Main 2019 are hoping for the postponement of the general strike that will continue for two days and will probe a lot of problems on the day of the JEE Main 2019.
