A candidate can appear for three subsequent chances of compartment examination in class 12th i.e. if a candidate appears for 2025 main examination and placed in compartment then he/she can appear in July the same year, Second Chance in March/April and third chance in July of 2025. Know More About CBSE 2025 Compartment Exam
Central Board of Secondary Education has released the schedule of the Compartment exam on its official website. The exam of CBSE Compartment will take place three times providing an opportunity to the candidate. The official dates announced are provided as per for the candidate who gave the March 2025 exam but failed in one or two subjects, they will be provided with an opportunity of appearing for the exam three times.
CBSE Compartment Exam Eligibility Criteria 2025
Central Board of Secondary Education has prescribed the eligibility criteria for the candidates who will be appearing for CBSE Compartment Exam in order to clear the subjects in which they have failed. Candidates should make sure that they go through the eligibility criteria very carefully before proceeding to fill up the Application form.
- Candidates who have failed in one subject but have passed in all other subjects will have to appear for the CBSE 10th and 12th compartment exam 2025.
- If the candidate has 6 subjects in their 12th and has failed in two of the subjects, they will have to appear for the compartment exams in any of the one subjects.
- If the candidate has failed to appear in their board exam or has failed all the five subjects in their board, they will not be eligible to appear CBSE Compartment exam.
- The compartment will be mentioned in the result of the candidate for those subjects in which she/he has failed or haven’t been able to secure the passing marks.
- The status of the result whether failed or compartment will be mentioned on the final result.

Candidates with the compartment in one or more than one subject are required to fill up the CBSE Compartment Exam 2025 Application Form and submit it. The form was released in an online mode. The application form of CBSE Compartment exam 10th and 12th are released three times on the official website providing the candidate with an ample of an opportunity of passing the subject. - Visit the official website of CBSE i.e. cbse.nic.in and navigate for ‘Recent Announcements’ sections.
- The Application Form link of ‘Class 12 Compartment/Class 10th Compartment’ will be available on the portal. Click on the link as per the eligibility.
- Look for ‘online submission of LOC for compartment/IOP exam for 2025 or ‘online application for private candidates for Comptt/IOP examination 2025’.
- Click on the link of either ‘class 12th or class 10th’ as per your suitability and class.
- Enter the asked details such as the Roll Number, Centre Number, School Code and click on the proceed button.
- The CBSE Compartment Application Form will appear on the screen and candidates will have to provide details which are valid and correct. Students should note that they will have to appear for the Compartment exam only of the class in which they were enrolled also make sure to enter the correct course code and class code. Any form of incorrect information will prohibit the submission of the Application form.
- After filling up the Application form, candidates will have to upload the Photograph and Signature as per the specifications provided in the information brochure.
- Next step will be of the payment of the Application Fee. The Application Form will be accepted only after the submission of the Application Fee. The amount of the fee will be provided in the notification released along with the Application Form.
- After the successful payment of the Application form, click on the submit button. Candidates are advised to take a print out of the submitted Application Form for future references.
CBSE Compartment exam Fee Structure 2025
Fee structure of CBSE Compartment Exam 2025 for regular and private candidates is different. Private candidates have to pay additional postal charges to appear in the compartment exam. CBSE Compartment Exam Admit Card 2025
The Admit Card of the compartment exam of CBSE will be available in the first week of July 2025 on the official website. Candidates who will successfully apply for the compartment exam will be able to download CBSE Improvement Admit Card. The CBSE 2025 Compartment Exam Admit Card will be provided to the candidates through schools and for Private Candidates, the link of the CBSE Improvement Exam Admit Card will be available separately.
The admit card of CBSE exam contains details like the centre of the exam, date and timing of the exam, subject code, name of the student and other important instructions regarding the exam which should be followed by the candidate. It will be mandatory to bring Admit Card on the day of the exam, the entry of the candidate in the examination hall will be prohibited otherwise.
CBSE Improvement Exam 2025 Result
The result of CBSE Supplementary Exam 2025 will be available in September 2025 on the official website of Central Board of Secondary Education. Candidates who gave the exam will be able to check if they have passed the exam from the result link. The Result link will mention the details of the marks secured by the candidate, the maximum number of marks, the status of the result, Roll No and course code and name.
Students who gave the Compartment exam 2025 will have to provide the details in order to access the result successfully. The marks of the compartment exam will be updated on the marksheet. Students will get a chance of appearing in the CBSE Compartment Exam 2025 for the total three times in order to pass the subject.
CBSE Compartment 2025 Exam Question Paper
It is very important to download the CBSE Question Paper of last year. The previous year’s question papers of the CBSE will help the students to get an overall idea of the exam pattern. The candidates who are preparing for the Supplementary exam of CBSE must download the PDF of last year’s question papers of CBSE. They must practice from the question papers in order to get used-to to the exam pattern. The old papers of CBSE will also help the candidates to manage the time and solve a maximum number of questions within the stipulated time.
Important Points Regarding CBSE Supplementary Exam
- Candidates who have a Compartment in the subject of their Board exams will have to appear for the exam in order to clear the Board exams.
- In case the candidate fails to appear for the board exam or fails all the chances of the compartment will be treated failed in the examination and will have to appear fresh in the next session.
- Candidates who have the compartment in the subject will have to fill up the Application forms for the exam which will be available on the official website of CBSE.
- Compartment will not be provided in more than one subject.
- Candidates will have an opportunity of giving the Compartment exam three times in total.
- The student will have to appear only for those subjects in which they have a Compartment mentioned on their Mark sheet.
CBSE Compartment 2025 Exam – Procedure & Guidelines
The following are the procedures of and guidelines for the CBSE Compartment Exam:-
- A candidate placed in the compartment at the Senior School Certificate Examination may reappear at the compartmental examination to be held in July the same year, may avail himself/herself of Second Chance in March/April and Third Chance in July of next year. The candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he/she qualifies the compartmental subjects in which he/she had failed. Syllabus and courses shall be the same as applicable for the candidates of full subjects appearing at the examination in the year concerned.
- A candidate who does not appear or fails at one or all the chances of compartment shall be treated to have failed in the examination and shall be required to reappear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board as per syllabi and courses laid down for the examination concerned in order to pass the examination. The candidate shall have the option to appear at the practical examination in the subjects involving practical or retain their previous marks in one more annual examination after the Third Chance Compartment.
- Syllabus and Courses for the compartmental candidates in March examination shall be the same as applicable to the candidates of full subjects appearing at the examination,
- A candidate placed in the compartment shall be allowed to appear only in those subjects in which he/she has been placed in the compartment at the Second Chance Compartmental Examination to be held in March/April next year.
- For subjects involving practical work, in case the candidate has passed in practical at the main examination he/she shall appear only in theory part and previous practical marks will be carried forward and accounted for. In case a candidate has failed in practical he/she shall have to appear in theory and practical both irrespective of the facCBSE Compartment Exam – FAQst that he/she has already cleared the theory examination.
- The candidate who is placed in compartment in the Secondary School Examination (Class-X) shall be admitted provisionally to class XI till he takes in first chance Compartmental Examination to be held in July/August of that year. His/her admission shall be treated as cancelled if he/she fails to pass at the first chance compartmental examination.
