Normalization of KVPY 2025 Scores
Normalization of scores is a process to make sure that the candidates are neither advantaged or disadvantaged by the variations in the difficulty levels of the exam. However, this variation usually occurs when the exam is conducted in different slots.
Furthermore, in order to avoid any discretion in calculating the result of the candidates, the normalization process is used. However, one factor that is used in normalization is the percentile of the candidate. The percentile score of a candidate in a board or KVPY will tell us what percentage of candidates have scored below that candidate in KVPY. A Percentile score is a value below which a certain percent of observations falls. For example, the 30th percentile is the value below which 30 percent of the observations will be found.
The percentile is calculated as:
100 x Number of candidates in the ‘group’ with aggregate marks less than the candidate/ Total Number of candidates in the group.
KVPY Merit list 2025
The Merit List of KVPY is published by the Institute after the declaration of the KVPY Result. Candidates who have appeared for the exam will be able to go through the Merit List which will be available as per the date as mentioned in the admission schedule. The candidate will have to provide the correct credentials in the login section of the KVPY. The Institute releases the KVPY Merit List mentioning the names of the candidates who are eligible to proceed with the procedure further. KVPY – Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana 2025
The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an ongoing National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences. The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, funds the scholarship in order to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research careers in science. Furthermore, the objective of the program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and further ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. The advertisement for the KVPY Scholarship appears in all the national dailies normally on Technology Day (May 11) and the Second Sunday of July every year.
KVPY Result 2025 Selection Procedure
The selection of the students is made from those studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology having an aptitude for scientific research. Special groups / Committees are set up at IISc to screen the applications and conduct an aptitude test at various centers in the country. Furthermore, based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. Therefore, for receiving a KVPY Scholarship, both aptitude tests and interview marks are considered.
