Karnataka Examination Authority this year, tentatively by the month of July will conduct the Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test. This is a state level Examination. This courses are provided by the Government/Private and also the private-Educational Institutions of Karnataka. The candidates who will get qualified can take admission in the 1st Year Full time/Part time in MBA/MCA/M.Arch/M.Tech/M.E and step to a new start to shape their career. This Examination is conducted in the conventional style i.e it is not computer based. But the Application of the Forms will be in the online mode. So, the candidates need to register themselves online very carefully. Only the successfully registers candidates will be issued the Hall Tickets There will be more than 178 participating institutes for Karnataka PGECET 2018.The Allotment of the seats will purely depend on their performance in the Karnataka PGECET and GATE. The Candidate who qualifies the PGECET will have to go through a counseling process before Admission. This is very important for the students who seek Admissions. This Examination will be conducted for 100 marks and candidates will be given 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the Examination.

The Karnataka PGCET brings various programmes for the Aspirants who want to go for the PostGraduate courses and the name of courses are listed below. The courses are divided into two parts: Part A and Part B.

In type A, programmes included are Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Textile Technology, Electrical Science, Architecture, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Science, Environmental Engineering, Polymer Science, and Bio-Technology.

Type B includes Mathematics and Computer science.

Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka PGCET

Candidates are advised to always check the eligibility criteria before applying for any Examination. There will be no point for the candidates to apply for the Examination if they do not fulfill the entitled criteria. Only if they meet the criteria they should register themselves. The edibility criteria that are set by the KEA for Karnataka PGCET are given below:

  • Candidates should be a permanent resident of Karnataka or should have lived there for a substantial period of time and at least for 7 years of time. They should have also studied in one of the Government Institutes for 7 years in Karnataka Candidates should hold the local status of their Domicile as per the criteria of Karnataka Examination Authority.
  • Candidates belonging to the General Category will have to score 50% in their last qualifying Examination and candidates from the SC/ST categories should score 45% in their last qualifying Examination.
  • The GATE qualified candidates do not need to appear for the Examination. They will have a different admission and a counseling process. But they need to register themselves by filling up the form. There will be a separate segment for application of the GATE Candidates.
  • Candidates wanting to apply for the M.Tech/M.E and M.Arch course should have done their bachelors in the Equivalent field from a reputed organization recognized by the state Karnataka. The General Category candidates have to score 50% and the ST/SC and category I Karnataka candidates should at least score 45% marks.
  • Candidates who will apply for the MCA (Lateral Entry) should complete their BCA or B.Sc in Computer Science or IT with at least 50% by the General Category students and 45% by the SC/ST students.
  • Candidates planning to apply for the MBA course should have done their BBA for three years and the General Category students should score 50% and SC/ST students should score 45%.

Karnataka PGCET Application Form 2018

Aspirants who want to go for the courses offered by Karnataka PGCET 2018 should first fill up the Application Form. The registration process is done online. Candidates are advised to fill up the form before the last date as there will be no form fillup process after the last date. The candidate does not have to submit the form physically to anyone or anywhere. There will be a registration fee that the candidate have to pay while processing the form fillup. Without the payment, then the application will not be completed. The following are the steps that the candidate should follow while registering themselves for Karnataka PGCET.

Registration: The candidates should register themselves with all the required details that are demanded by the Examination Authorities for the Application. The details like the Name of the Candidate, Parents name, Gender, Date of Birth,  Gender and a working Mobile Number has to be submitted. The candidates have to create a user ID and Password. The Examination Authorities will provide a unique verification code to the candidates after the successful registration. Candidates should keep the code very safely with them.

Form Fillup: Candidates should fill all the details in the required fields correctly. The details required are the Academic Details, The Personal Details and the Marks scored in the Qualifying Examinations.

Uploading Documents: The documents that the candidates have to upload is their passport size scanned a photograph and a signature. The photograph should be uploaded in the JPEG or JPG form and the size that will be required for the photograph is less than 50 KB and the signature should be less than 30KB

After providing all the information the candidates are advised to revise the details they have entered.

Payment: Candidates need to pay the required number of fees for the successful registration. The payment has to be done online and no offline method will be accepted. The payment can be done by the Debit/Credit card. The fees will differ with the different category. The General category of candidates will have to pay Rupees 650 and the candidates belonging to the ST/SC categories will have to pay 500 Rupees.

After the final submission of the details, the candidates should keep a printed copy of the Application form.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Hall Ticket

Karnataka Examination Authorities will release the Karnataka PGCET Admit Card for the successfully registered candidates by the third week of June. If in case, candidates commit any mistakes regarding the form fillup they will not be issued the Admit Card. The reason being that the Examination Authorities generally cancel the forms which are found to be unmatched with eligibility criteria or other valid reasons. The Admit card is the gateway for the candidates. No candidate will be allowed to sit in the examination without the Admit Card. The Authorities can terminate a candidate who fails to provide the Admit card or other needed documents on the day of the Examination. The Hall Tickets will only be released online on the official website of Karnataka PGCET 2018. The candidates should know that the call letter or the Admit card will not be sent to candidates in their Address by post or via E-Mail.

There are few steps or procedure the candidates need to follow while downloading it online and they are as:

  • Candidates have to log in to the official website of Karnataka PGCET 2018.
  • The official website will provide a link in the website. Click on the link.
  • Enter the required fields such as the Registration Number and date of Birth and then submit it.
  • The Admit card will get displayed on the screen,check the details carefully mentioned in it and download it. The candidates should keep more than three printed copies of the Admit card.
Note: Candidates are requested to keep the Admit card safely even after the Examination as it will be needed in the different stages of Admission. The Authorities will not accept the Hall Ticket if deformed or damaged.

Candidates should properly check all the details before downloading the Admit Card. If in case, There is any misprint or errors in the Hall ticket, it should be immediately informed to the Authorities for rectification of the details. The details which the candidates should check in the Admit Card is Name of the Candidate, Father’s Name, Enrollment Number, Paper Name, Date and Time of the Examination, Address of the Examination, Photograph and Signature.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Examination Pattern

Karnataka PGCET will be held in the first week of July and candidates who have applied for it should follow the Examination Pattern. The examination will be conducted in the contemporary style and it held well in an offline mode. The total number of questions that would be asked is 100 and the time that will be allowed is 2 hours 30 minutes or 150 minutes. The questions will be set in English Medium. The total number of questions asked will be 100.For each correct answer, one mark will be awarded to the MBA students and one mark to the MCA/M.E/M.Arch/M.Tech phase-I and two marks will be awarded in the phase-II.

Karnataka PGCET Result 2018

Karnataka PGCET 2018 result will be announced by the third week of August. Candidates. Candidates will only be able to check their results online. It will be released on the Website of Karnataka PGCET 2018. There will be a result page in the website, Candidates need to log in there. A Merit List will also be released just after a few days of the result declaration. The Merit List will have the name of the students and score of the students who will be selected for the counseling process. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of scores they have scored. A separate merit list will be also be prepared which will have the entire programme course offered program courses along with a separate list of different courses. The results will be released on the PDF form and candidates should keep prints of the results more than three copies. Allotment of the seats for the Admission in different college will also be prepared on the basis of ranks. The name of the candidates is always given in the descending order. The candidate with the highest score will be listed in the top and candidates with least marks will be listed below. Candidates have to complete some steps to check the Karnataka PGCET result and it is mentioned below:

Candidates need to Login on to the official website of KEA as it will be only be released online.

  • Visit the link that shall be provided by the Examination Authorities to check the result.
  • To search the candidate’s name or roll number, The candidates can use the shortcut key to find i.e Ctrl+F
  • When the result will be displayed on the screen, download the result and take out the print out of it.
  • The Rank list which contains the scores of the candidates will have some details on it and candidates should thoroughly check it before downloading the rank card. There will be the Name of the Candidate, The registration Number, The Enrollment Number, The total Marks, Gender and the category. If in case, there is any discrepancy, candidates should immediately inform the KEA.

If in case there are students who have scored equal marks in the Entrance Examination, KEA will resolve or break the tie with some conditions.

  1. A student who will score the highest marks in the last qualifying degree will be selected.
  2. Candidates with older age will be preferred.

Karnataka PGCET Counselling

The Karnataka PGCET Counselling is always done after a few days of Results. The candidates are called on the basis of their performance in the entrance test. The counselling will be separated based on different candidates with different scores and categories. It is compulsory for the candidates to attend the counselling. The candidates have to be physically present on the day of the counselling for the seat allotment process. But before the final counselling, candidates will have to go through some process of counselling which is mandatory for them. The steps for the counselling process that the candidates have to go through is Online Registration, Document Verification, Filling up the form, Seat allotment, Reporting to the college/Unversity. The steps are detailed below:

Registration: Candidates have to register themselves online in the first step of counselling. They will be alloted helpline centers where candidates have to report in the helpline centers.

Document Verification: Candidates then have to submit their documents for verification. They have to submit the original documents with the xerox copies. Counselling process will not proceed without verification of the valid documents.

The documents that will be needed in the whole process are:

  • Study certificate of GM/SC/ST and OBC
  • Caste certificate
  • Income certificate of the parents issued by the Tahsildar.
  • School leaving Certificate and 10th Mark sheet.
  • Pre University Education certificate and 12th Mark sheet.
  • Last Qualifying Examination Mark sheet.
  • A certificate of the either parents who studied in Karnataka for 7 years.
Note: Upon successful verification, candidates will be given verification slip and a confidential Key which will have login details for the third step that is filling up the form.

Form Fillup: Candidates need to login with the confidential details that was issued after successful verification of the documents. Then the Karnataka Examination Authorities will provide the candidate with list with all the participating institutions, courses offered and total number of seats. The candidate needs to choose the course they want to go for.

Seat Allotment: The seat will be alloted to the students on the factors like Rank in Entrance Examination, The choice of the colleges and universities that the candidates have preferred and availability of the seats.

Reporting the Colleges: Candidates after completing all the procedures have to wait for the Authority to send the confirmation message. The student can check their seat allotment through the online mode. The candidate then should report to the colleges or institutes assigned. The candidate thereafter can do the further processing i.e their Admission process and other formalities. There will be fees which the candidate need to pay as a course fee. This course fee is paid to secure a seat.
