The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is a leading institution that has opened its portals to students who want to pursue the four-year Bachelors of Science (BS) in Research at the undergraduate level. The programme was introduced in 2011 with the aim to blend core science and interdisciplinary concepts that will serve as attractive career opportunities. The institute does not conduct any entrance exam for admissions. Students who want to take up the programme will be granted admission on the basis of their scores obtained in major entrance examinations like JEE Main, JEE advanced, NEET-UG and fellowship programmes like KVPY. Application Form of IISc Admissions 2018
The application form for admission to Indian Institute of Science had been made available for candidates to fill from 1st February 2018. The last date to fill the application form and submit the same was 30th April 2018. All the applicants must first check if they are eligible to apply for the admission and only then fill the online application form for the same. To fill up the form online, candidates will be required to first register themselves on the official website. After this, the applicant will be required to fill up personal information like name, date of birth, etc. And academic details. Candidates will also be asked to upload the scanned images of their photograph, signature, the signature of the parents and category certificate in the correct specifications.

With the application form, candidates were asked to pay an application fee that will be different for different categories. Those belonging to general, OBC and Kashmiri Migrants category had to pay an application fee of Rs. 500 whereas those belonging to the SC, ST, and PwD category had to pay an amount of Rs. 250 as the application fees. The fee had to be paid in the online mode through net banking, visa/ master cards, or through credit/ debit cards. Candidate were able to check his/her application fee payment status after 24 hours of fee payment by logging in with the login credentials.
The last step in the application form filling was the submission of the form. Candidates had the option to edit the mistakes in the application form by clicking on the “preview your application form”. With the help of this option, the candidate will be able to update, remove, change, edit any information filled in the application form before submitting the application form.
About IISc Admissions 2018
Aspiring candidates who want to take admissions must keep themselves in sync with the dates and information about admission-related events. The application form for IISc BS admissions was released on 1st February 2018 and could be filled and submitted until 30th April 2018. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling up the online application form. The merit of the candidates in JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET-UG, and KVPY will allow the candidates to take admission to the reputed institution. The counselling for eligible candidates will begin tentatively in mid-June or the 4th week of July 2018.

Eligibility Criteria of IISc 2018 Exam
Before applying for the admission procedure, applicants must check all the eligibility criteria set by the admission conducting authority. These criteria are conditions that are based on certain parameters and candidates must meet these criteria in order to be considered for the admission procedure.
The eligibility criteria for IISc 2018 BS admissions includes criteria based on class 12th qualifying examination and the criteria for each entrance exam and fellowship programme. For admission to Bachelors of Science(Research) offered in IISc, candidates need to fulfill both the eligibility criteria that are provided below:
Common Eligibility Criteria for all candidates
- Candidates who have passed class 12th in 2017 or are appearing for the same in 2018 are eligible to apply.
- Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12th.
- Those who have studied Biology, Electronics, Statistics, Computer Science, along with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have passed the above-mentioned combination with at least 60% marks, first class division or an equivalent grade.
- Reserved category candidates like SC/ST have been given relaxation and have to only qualify class 12th/ II PUC in order to be eligible for admissions.
Examination Wise Eligibility Criteria
For Kishore Vaigyanik Protasahan Yojana (KVPY)
- For KVPY – SA, the candidate should have appeared for the fellowship program in the year 2016 and should have been selected for the programme.
- For KVPY – SB, the candidate should have appeared for the fellowship program in the year 2017 and should have been selected for the programme.
- For KVPY – SX, the candidate should have appeared for the fellowship program in the year 2017 and should have been selected for the programme.
- The fellows of KVPY SA and SX should have been selected through empowerment initiative for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.
For Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main)
- Candidates belonging to the general category should have scored at least 60% of marks in JEE Main 2018.
- OBC – NCL (other backward class non-creamy layer) category candidates must have obtained at least 54% marks in the above-mentioned examination.
- Those belonging to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, and Physically handicapped category candidate should have scored a minimum of 30% in JEE Main 2018.
For Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced)
- Candidate should have appeared for the exam in 2017.
- Candidates belonging to the general category should have scored at least 60% of marks in JEE Main 2018.
- OBC – NCL (other backward class non-creamy layer) category candidates must have obtained at least 54% marks in the above-mentioned examination.
- Those belonging to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, and Physically Handicapped category, should have scored a minimum of 30% in JEE Main 2018.
For National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET – UG)
- Candidate must have appeared for the exam in 2017.
- Candidates belonging to the general category should have scored at least 60% of marks in JEE Main 2018.
- OBC – NCL (other backward class non-creamy layer) category candidates must have obtained at least 54% marks in the above-mentioned examination.
- Those belonging to the scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, and Physically Handicapped category, should have scored a minimum of 30% in JEE Main 2018.
IISc 2018 Counselling Procedure | Seat Allotment
A merit list will be released for candidates who have applied for the admission procedure. The merit list will be separate for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, KVPY, and NEET. All the candidates whose names appear on these merit list will be called for counselling and seat allotment procedure. The allotment of seats will take place keeping in mind the merit of the candidate, seats available and the category-based merit. Those who have qualified all the above-mentioned exams and fellowship programme will be listed in all the merit list. Candidates will then have to appear for documents verification and report to the institution to confirm their admission.
Scholarships
Depending on the performance of the candidates in national examinations such as KVPY, IIT JEE (Main and Advanced), and NEET, students will be able to avail themselves of the standard fellowships offered by agencies such as KVPY and DST-INSPIRE.
