Subject Combination for Different Courses

  1. Candidates applying for Medical and Farm Science Courses need to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Biology while Engineering  and Technology aspirants will appear in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  2. Candidates need to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for Pharmacy Degree courses.
  3. Candidates from Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga need to appear in the Kannada language test.

KCET 2018 Exam Pattern

Candidates are advised to be well acquainted with KCET 2018 exam pattern in order to make the preparation more effective. Exam pattern of KCET gives the candidate an idea about the mode of exam, duration, subjects and questions asked from each section, marking scheme. KCET question paper will be set from the first and second year of PUC (Pre – University Courses)recommended by Department of  Pre-University Education, Karnataka.

The total time duration for completing each paper will be 70 minutes and 10 minutes extra will be given for reading and filling other details. The total duration would be 210 minutes (for 3 papers). Kannada language test: Candidates from Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga need to appear in the Kannada language test. It will be conducted by KEA in a test centre located at Bangalore only. The Difficulty level of Kannada language test is of 4th standard level.

NOTE:- Minimum passing marks for Karnataka Language Examination is 12 marks. Candidates need to obtain the minimum score for assignment of ranks and to become eligible for allotment of seats in KCET 2018.

Use of Optical Mark Recognition(OMR) Sheet

KCET 2018 is an offline Paper i.e OMR sheet will be given to Candidates to mark their answers. Candidate must keep the following points in their minds while marking their answers on OMR sheet.

  • Candidates will be given a two – page Optical Mark Recognition sheet (OMR) to mark their answers. The two pages of the OMR will have the same lay-out.
  • The first page of the OMR is machine readable. It is designed to leave impressions of the responses on the second page.
  • Applicants should not separate or disturb the alignment of the two pages of the OMR under any circumstances.
  • Candidates are required to mark answers to all the questions on the first page of the OMR by darkening the appropriate bubble.
  • Candidate should use BLACK BALL POINT pen for darkening the bubbles.
  • Candidates need to apply an adequate pressure to ensure that a proper impression is made on the second page of the OMR.
  • Instruction for darkening the bubbles will be printed on the question paper and candidates must strictly follow those instructions.
  • The second page of the OMR will be given to the Candidates by the invigilator at the end of the exam. Candidates can take back home a copy i.e second page of the OMR response sheet.
