Anna University which conducts the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions or Anna Univeristy will release the overall as well as category-wise Rank. The rank list will be prepared after considering the marks obtained in Physics, chemistry, and mathematics in the 10+2 qualifying examination. The rank list will be released tentatively in the 3rd week of June for only those candidates who had registered themselves during the online registration period. Candidates will have an access to the TNEA 2018 rank or merit list by providing their registered email-id and password.

There is a process of normalization of marks that takes place for candidates who belong to boards other than Tamil Nadu. This is done so that there are no differences in the difficulty level of the exam conducted by different boards. The rank list will be prepared out of 200 where 100 marks will be given to both Physics and chemistry combined and 100 to Mathematics alone. Mathematics will carry more weightage than the other two subjects.

Tie-breaking policy

There are cases where two candidates may score the same percentage of marks. In such cases, the inter-SE-merit parameters will be used to give preference based on fair means.

  • Candidates with higher marks in mathematics
  • candidates with higher marks in Physics
  • Candidates with higher marks in Chemistry
  • seniority in terms of age
  • higher value of Random number allocated before

Normalization Of Scores

Normalization of scores is a procedure used by the University/board to calculate the percentile of each candidate and not give an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate by any chance. This procedure is adopted keeping in mind the difficulty levels of qualifying examination as candidates applying may have different school boards. Therefore normalization acts as a fair means of calculating the result of the candidate.
