There is a process of normalization of marks that takes place for candidates who belong to boards other than Tamil Nadu. This is done so that there are no differences in the difficulty level of the exam conducted by different boards. The rank list will be prepared out of 200 where 100 marks will be given to both Physics and chemistry combined and 100 to Mathematics alone. Mathematics will carry more weightage than the other two subjects.

Normalization Of Scores
Normalization of scores is a procedure used by the University/board to calculate the percentile of each candidate and not give an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate by any chance. This procedure is adopted keeping in mind the difficulty levels of qualifying examination as candidates applying may have different school boards. Therefore normalization acts as a fair means of calculating the result of the candidate.
