Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) was established on 24th June 1962 by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan. The Punjabi University is located in Patiala, Punjab, India. Now, 43 colleges from 9 districts of Punjab are affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP). PUP is the second university in the world named after a language.

Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) Distance Education Department was established in 1968. PUP Distance Education Department offers many courses for admission. A person who is unable to join regular education program can take admission into the distance learning program to continue his/her higher studies. Eligibility Criteria for PUP Admission

Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) A candidate should have passed B.Lib.Sc. With atleast 50% marks from any recognised University.
Bachelor Degrees Programs
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent Board.

A candidate who has passed Pre-Engineering/PreMedical/B.A. Part-I/B.Sc. Part-I/ B.Com. Part-I (old scheme) examination from Punjabi University or any other recognised University.

A candidate who has passed 3 years Diploma in Engineering from any recognised Board/University.

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent Board with atleast

40% marks in case candidate passed from Commerce stream.

45% marks in case candidate passed in Accounts, Humanities Group with atleast two papers out of Commerce/Mathematics/ Economics/Management.

50% marks in case candidate passed in stream other than mentioned in (i) &(ii).

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent Board.
Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent Board or

A candidate has completed 2 years certificate course from SLIET/3 years diploma from a government/recognised board.

Bachelor of Library & Information Science(B.LI.Sc.) A candidate has passed Bachelor Degree examination in any stream with atleast 35% from any recognised University. If the result is declared after re-evaluation, then the candidate will not be considered for admission.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) A candidate must have passed Graduation/Post Graduation in any stream with atleast 50% marks. The candidates who are working as a school teacher in Government or Government recognised school within the territorial jurisdiction of the state of Punjab only are eligible for admission.
Post Graduate Diplomas
PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (i) A candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree in any stream from Punjabi University or any other recognised University.

 

(ii) A candidate who will pass Bachelor’s Degree in September 2018 will not be eligible for admission in the session 2018-2019.

PG Diploma in Computer Application A candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree in any stream from Punjabi University or any other recognised University.
PG Diploma in Translation A candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree in any stream from Punjabi University or any other recognised University with minimum 40% marks.
PG Diploma in HIV/AIDS Counselling A candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree in any stream from Punjabi University or any other recognised University.

Diploma in Library Science A candidate should have passed 10th /12th or any other equivalent examination from any recognised Board.
Diploma in Gurmat Sangeet A candidate should have passed 12th with Gurmat Sangeet as a subject or certificate course in Gurmat Sangeet from a recognised Board/University or

Punjabi Praveshika A candidate should be able to read and write Hindi, Punjabi & English.
Gyani A candidate who has passed

A candidate who has passed 10th / 12th exam with Punjabi as an optional subject from a recognised Board.

A candidate who has passed the Pre-University exam with Punjabi as the elective subject from a recognised Board/University.

A candidate who has passed Pre-Engineering exam with Punjabi as an optional subject from a recognised Board/University.

Application Form of PUP Admission 2018

The candidates seeking admission may download the Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP)  Admission Prospectus 2018 along with the PUP Application Form from the university website http://www.pupdepartments.ac.in/de. The cost of the Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP)  Admission Prospectus 2018 and Application Form is Rs. 500/- which is to be paid along with the admission fee.

The candidates who will choose B.A. (Computer Application), D.Lib., B.Lib., M.Lib., and B.Ed. have to fill an additional form available at the departmental website www.dccpbi.com along with the PUP Application form 2018.

Instructions to fill the PUP 2018 Application Form

The candidates who will fill Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) Application Form 2018 may go through the guidelines given below:

  • Fill the Name of the course and Subject for which seeking admission.
  • Fill the Centre of the Examination.
  • Fill the details of Demand Draft.
  • Affix your recent passport size photograph and it should be self-attested.
  • Mention your category.
  • Fill your name in BLOCK letters as specified in 10th marksheet/certificate.
  • Fill your Father’s name in BLOCK letters as specified in 10th marksheet/certificate.
  • Fill your Mother’s name in BLOCK letters as specified in 10th marksheet/certificate.
  • Fill your Date of Birth in DD/MM/YYYY format as recorded in 10th marksheet/certificate.
  • Fill other details like Gender, Marital Status, Nationality, Religion etc.
  • Fill the details of Parents’/Guardian’s/Self Annual Income.
  • Fill your educational details like the Last exam passed, Board/University Name, Year of Passing, Divison secured etc.
  • A candidate applying for B.Ed. should provide details of Designation of the post held, Name of the School/Institute where employed, Whether the School/Institute is a Government/Recognised, Board to which affiliated, Total Experience.
  • Fill details of your Permanent Address and Correspondence Address along with PIN code.
  • Provide your contact number and valid email id.
  • Provide your signature in the given box and fill the date.
  • Fill the details of the documents attached.

Documents required to submit with the PUP Application Form 2018

The candidates need to submit following documents along with the PUP Application Form 2018:

  • Provisional Degree and Marksheet of last qualifying examination in the original.
  • Self-attested copy of class 10th marksheet/certificate.
  • Character Certificate issued by the last attended School/College. Candidates residing abroad may obtain it from a Gazetted Officer of the Indian Embassy.
  • Migration Certificate in original (if applicable)
  • Self-attested copy of Date of Birth certificate.
  • A candidate is required to write his/her name, father’s name, form number on the backside of the Demand draft of the requisite fee.
  • A candidate’s recent passport size photograph and one self-attested photograph to be affixed on the Admission Form.
  • Identity card along with the photograph and signature.
  • The filled in PUP Application Form 2018 along with required documents should reach to The Head, Department of Distance Education, Punjabi University, Patiala-147002. It can also be delivered to the Enquiry and Information Centre located at the University Main Gate and a receipt may be obtained for the same.
Note: The candidates should mention “Application for Admission to ………….. Course” on the envelope of the PUP Application Form 2018.

Admission Process of PUP

The candidates desiring to take admission in Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) for distance courses can fill the PUP Application Form 2018 which shall be available on the university website. The candidates have to submit the PUP Application form 2018 before the last date otherwise, late fee will be charged for the submission of PUP Application Form 2018. The candidates are required to send the PUP Application form 2018 along with the required enclosures to The Head, Department of Distance Education, Punjabi University, Patiala-147002.

Rejection of PUP Admission Form 2018

The candidates Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) Application Form 2018 for admission shall be rejected in the case:

  • If the PUP Application Form 2018 is not filled completely in all aspects.
  • If the requisite documents are not enclosed along with the PUP Application Form 2018.
  • If the candidate does not fulfill eligibility criteria.
  • If the last qualified examination of the candidate is not recognised by the Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP).
  • If the photograph of the Applicant is not affixed properly.
  • If the requisite fee and other charges are not paid in full.
  • If the PUP Application form 2018 is not signed by the applicant.
  • If the required original documents are not produced at the time of verification.
Note: The original documents/certificates will be handed over to the candidate after the verification.
