This article provides the required eligibility criteria for general and reserved category candidates to appear for the JIPMER exam for academic session 2018.

Applicants must go through the below-given table to know about the eligibility criteria for JIPMER 2018.

1.NationalityCandidates must be a citizen of India. Overseas citizens can also apply for JIPMER 2018 exam.
2.AgeCandidates must have attained 17 years of age as on 31st December 2018.

Applicant should have born on or before 1st January 2002.

There is no maximum age limit to apply for JIPMER 2018.

3.Qualifying ExaminationCandidate must have pass the Qualifying 10+2 examination individually in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English subjects and must obtained a minimum of 50 % (40 % in case of SC/ST/OBC/OPH) from a recognized university/board of any Indian state or any other examinations recognized by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi which is equivalent to class 12 examinations.

For OPH (Orthopedic Physically Handicapped) candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry,Biology/ Biotechnology taken together in the qualifying examination is 45%.

Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in the year 2018 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply for admission. But they have to produce the result of class 12 at the time of document verification.

Seat Reservation for JIPMER 2018

As per the reservation policy of Government of India applicable to central educational institutions (CEI), a definite number of seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to categories other than general. Students claiming reservation are required to produce valid supporting documents in the prescribed format at the time of counselling in order to avail the benefit of JIPMER 2018 reservation of seats. All the candidates must go to the table given below in order to know the documents /certificates required to produce at the time of counselling to claim the reservation of seats. Before claiming their respective category in the application form, candidates must read the below-given table.

2.Other Backward Classes (OBC) (NON Creamy Layer)Applicants are required to ensure that he/she does not belong to the creamy layer. Kindly click the following link to see the central list of OBC Here. Candidates falling under the list will be considered as OBC category.

OBC Certificate must be in the format as mentioned in the Annexure II (available in the official prospectus).

Certificate to be produced during counseling should not be older than one year on date of 1st Counseling.

3.Scheduled Caste / Tribe (SC / ST)Applicants will be required to produce SC/ST Certificate in the prescribed format as mentioned in the Annexure III (available in the official prospectus). During counseling the certificate as prescribed in M.H.A., O.M., No.

42/21/49-N.G.S. dated the 28.1.1952, as revised in Dept. of Per-& A.R. letter No. 36012/6/76-Est. (S.CT), dated the 29.10.1977, to be produced by candidate belonging to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe in support of his/her claim.

4.Orthopedic Physically Challenged (OPH)The candidate must possess a valid document certifying his/her physical disability conforming to judgment of Supreme Court of India i.e.

With the approval of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide letter no. 18018/2/2009-ME (P-1) dated 17.02.2009 it has been decided that while providing reservation in admission to medical course in the first instance candidates with disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% shall be considered and in case such candidates are not available then candidates with disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% will also be considered.

The disability certificate should be certified by a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board of the State or Central Govt. Hospitals/Institutions.

The suitability of the candidates’ disability (Locomotor) will be assessed with regards to patient safety norms for due certification by the Medical Board, JIPMER.

The decision of the JIPMER Medical Board is final in this regard.

5.Puducherry – Unreserved

(P-UR)

A candidate is considered to belong to the union territory of Puducherry (P-UR), if he/she satisfies at least one of the following domicile criteria (Refer Annexure – IV for the Format of Certificates) available in the official prospectus of JIPMER 2018.
6.Puducherry Other Backward Classes (P-OBC)Candidates satisfying the above mentioned definitions of categories for (P-UR) and (OBC).
7.Puducherry Scheduled Caste (P-SC)Candidates satisfying the above mentioned definitions of categories for (P-UR) and (SC/ST).
8.Puducherry Orthopedic Physically Challenged

(P-OPH)

Candidate satisfying the above mentioned definition of categories (P-UR) and (OPH).
9.Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)OCI registered under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are also eligible to appear in this test for the 6 seats available and all terms and conditions applicable for Indian Nationals given in this prospectus will be applicable to them. The candidate will submit proof of Registration as OCI under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 along with the application to be eligible to appear for this test. Certificate of registration as OCI issued by the Competent Authority should be produced at the time of admission.
