The inclusion of these languages is because of the questions raised by Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. In addition, the objection was raised when Gujarati was included following a request from the state.
However, West Bengal Higher Education department requested NTA to include Bengali in the JEE Question Paper. But on receiving this request, an MHRD official suggested that the exam should be offered in other regional languages as well. Further, the registration process has been scheduled for the 2020 session. Therefore, now the exam would be offered in the mentioned 11 languages from January 2025.

This is an excellent step by the authorities as JEE Mains & Advanced is a national level exam. The exam is conducted for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architectural courses. In addition, a lot of students every year appear for this exam to get admission mainly in government-funded technical institutes. Therefore, its a relief for students as they need not change to English or Hindi medium.
According to sources, MHRD has also asked NTA to try and offer the exam in as many languages as possible. So, in the future, the exam conducting body may offer this competitive exam in more languages.
