About GATE 2020
GATE is jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore & the seven Indian Institutes of Technology ( Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras, Delhi, and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. GATE 2019 was conducted by IIT Madras. The GATE 2020 exam will be conducted by the body the IIT Delhi. After qualifying GATE, a candidate becomes eligible for
- Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture.
Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies.

Some Important Points About GATE Exam
- IIT Delhi has conducted the GATE Exam 2020.
- The GATE score is valid for 3 Years after the declaration of the result.
- The examination is conducted in online mode only that is Computer Based Test (CBT).
- A candidate can appear in any one examination in the same year.
New Changes In GATE 2020
Candidates are informed that the authority has added a new paper of Bio-Medical Engineering (BM) to the list of 24 examinations. Hence, from the year 2020, the examination will be conducted for over 25 subjects namely Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering and others. This is to be noted that the authority allows one candidate to sit in 1 examination only in any one session.
GATE Exam Eligibility Criteria
In order to apply for the exam, one should meet the GATE exam eligibility. If any candidate is found non-eligible at any stage of the exam then his/ her candidature will be cancelled. Hence, candidates should refer to the GATE 2020 notification so that they can get the information in detail. The eligibility criteria for GATE exam is different for different programmes. GATE (GOAPS) 2020 Application Form
Candidates had to fill the application form of the GATE exam so that they could take part in the admission or recruitment process. GATE application form 2020 was available in online mode only. While filling the information in the online form, make sure that it is true in all respect. Try to exercise the GATE Registration process as soon as possible in order to avoid the last-minute hassle. Upload files such as a photograph, signature, certificate of qualifying degree, category certificate(SC/ ST/ PwD) in the required format/size.
After filling the application form, candidates had to pay the requisite fee. Without paying the fee of GATE online application form no candidate was able to submit the form. Thus, pay the fee using Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit card, etc. The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable in any condition.

GATE Exam Centres/ Cities
For appearing in the examination, it is important to select the GATE 2020 Exam Centre. Try to submit the application form as soon as possible so that you can get the desired exam center. A candidate will get the option to choose 3 cities from the list of GATE exam cities 2020. If a candidate selects a city as a 1st choice, then in 2nd choice he/she will have to choose a city from the same zone.
While selecting the 3rd city he/ she can choose any city from the GATE exam centre list. Choose a city where you can reach easily so that you can appear in the exam without facing any hassle. GATE Exam Pattern 2020
GATE is a Computer Based Test (CBT) which means it is conducted only in online mode. Candidates will get permission to occupy their seats 40 minutes before the start of the exam. Candidates should make sure that they carry all the required things inside the exam hall in the first place. Further, the window to log in to the account and read instruction will activate 20 minutes before the exam. GATE exam pattern for EEE, CSE, Mechanical, Civil, ECE Engineering, etc. will be the same.
There will be 65 questions & candidates will get 3 hours time to solve the same. The GATE question paper will be of a total of 100 marks. There will be a provision of negative marking. If a candidate will mark the wrong answer for 1 mark question then 1/3 marks will be deducted. On the other hand, if he/ she will mark the wrong answer for 2 marks question then 2/3 marks will be deducted.
Note: There will be no negative marking for the Numerical Answer Type (NAT) question.
GATE Syllabus 2020
The syllabus of GATE contains all the important topics from the examination point of view. A candidate should have an eye on those topics so that they can prepare in a better way for the exam. GATE Syllabus PDF will also be available after the release of the notification. The syllabus for the different examinations will be different. Hence, separate PDFs of the GATE 2020 syllabus will be made available in online mode.
Apart from the syllabus, one should also refer to the previous year questions papers or sample papers. It will help them in improving their performance. It is expected that the GATE exam syllabus will be the same as last year’s syllabus. GATE syllabus for Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EEE), Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Civil Engineering, etc. in PDF format.
GATE Question Paper/ Sample Paper
It is important to have to look at the GATE previous year question paper so that candidates can have an idea of the type of questions. Along with preparing the subjects, it is equally important to solve the GATE sample question paper as much as you can. It will give information about the GATE question paper pattern which will help the candidates to predict the difficulty level as well. The sample papers are easily available online at different websites. On the other hand, stationery shops also keep sets of GATE mock test papers. Hence, candidates can purchase them and practice regularly in order to score good marks in the exam.
GATE Admit Card 2020
Candidates had to download the GATE admit card for appearing in the examination. In other words, no one will get permission to sit for the exam without admit card. The GATE Admit Card 2020 has been released on 4th January 2020. In order to download the GOAPS GATE admit card, candidates have to provide the required details.
The admit card will be available through GATE 2020 login without which no one candidate can download the same. After filling the form, check the website from time to time to get the updates. GATE exam admit card 2020 is available in an online mode only & no candidate will receive it either through email or post.
GATE 2020 Answer Key
Most of the candidates search for the GATE question paper with a response sheet after the exam. GATE 2020 sheet is available so that candidates can match their answers. Using GATE official answer key one can predict his/her marks in the exam. However, some coaching institutes such as Made Easy, Gate Forum, etc. will release the GATE answer key on the exam day itself. Thus, candidates can also download the Made Easy GATE 2020 answer key to check the marks on the same day.
But we will recommend cross-checking the response with the official GATE answer key again. It is because you will be more sure about the marks in the exam. On the other hand, it will also help to predict the rank.
GATE Result 2020
GATE Result is available from 13th March 2020. While checking the GATE 2020 Result, make use of the correct details such as Registration/ Roll Number, Date of Birth, etc. The GATE result link will be available on the website of GOAPS. In other words, the result is released online and hence no candidate will receive the same either through post or email. However, candidates will get to know about the GATE result release date after the release of the advertisement.
GATE Score Card 2020
The concerned authority has released the GATE scorecard so that candidates can get to know about their marks. The scorecard of GATE has been released after the declaration of the result. In fact, GATE 2020 scorecard will also release online. Hence it will be easy for the candidates to access the same. The scorecard will be valid for 3 years from the date of release of the result.
GATE Cut Off
In order to get a for admission in IIT, NIT, or any other Government/Private Institutes for M.Tech one should have to qualify the GATE Cut Off 2020. On the other hand, PSUs will call only such candidates for interview who will clear the GATE cut off for PSUs. So, make sure that you study with such focus and hard work so that you can qualify the cutoff marks.
GATE cut off for IIT, NIT, etc. will be different. In fact, the cutoff marks will vary from branch to branch & from college to college. Candidates can refer to GATE previous year cut off so that they can have a tentative idea of qualifying marks. While preparing for the exam, study the subjects considering the syllabus, cutoff, and others.
GATE Counselling 2020
Those who want to apply for admission to M.Tech. or Doctoral programs will participate in the counselling. Centralized Counselling for M.Tech./ M.Arch./ M.Plan./ M.Des. (CCMT) is a platform for candidates to apply for the counselling on the basis of their scorecard. Only such candidates will take part in the counselling process who shall qualify the examination.
