AP PGECET is an entrance examination for postgraduate courses like M.Tech, M.E, M.Pharmacy conducted by Andhra Pradesh. The students who aspire to seek their career in this field should appear for this state-level Examination. The exam of AP PGECET 2019 is conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University on the behalf of Andhra Pradesh Council of Higher Education, the statutory body of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The Examination will be computer based. Candidates should have a minimum knowledge of how to use the computer. There will be no offline mode for the Examination. There will be two shifts for the examination forenoon and afternoon shifts. The Andhra University releases the Exam Pattern for the candidates. AP PGECET Examination Pattern /Marking scheme.
The time allotted to the candidates for the examination is 2 hours. Candidates need to finish their question paper within a specific period of time. The Question paper will contain 120 Questions. The subjects on which the questions paper is set are Mathematics, General Aptitude, and the respective subject in which they have qualified. There will be 10-15 questions in the Mathematics section, 5-10 questions in the Aptitude section and 90-100 questions in the qualifying degree (Major).

The maximum marks obtained by a student is 120. The total number of questions to be solved is 120 and the duration to solve the whole paper is 120 minutes. This means the candidate gets an average of 1 minute to solve each question. The candidate has the freedom to attempt as many questions they want to as they do not have negative Marking. The candidates are advised to complete the easy sections at first in the least period of time and then attempt the hard and complex questions. The cutoffs and difficulty level differs with each subject.
AP PGECET 2019 Syllabus
Mathematics
Mathematics is an important subject in the examination of AP PGECET and the question papers set by the examination Authorities is to test the candidate’s aptitude in the Engineering Mathematics. The total number of questions asked will be 10-20 questions and it is advisable to the candidate that they should complete the mathematics section within 5-10 minutes. This section will cover both minor and major topics for Mathematics. The minor topics such as like:
Linear Algebra which includes Vector Algebra, Matrix Algebra, System of linear equations, the rank of a matrix.
Calculus such as Functions of single variables, limits, continuity and differentiability, mean value theorem and chain rules.
Differential Equations like first order linear equations and non-linear algebraic equations.
The major topics are such as Fourier Series, Laplace Transforms, Numerical integration and differentiation.
Aptitude
AP PGECET keeps a section of Aptitude which is the most basic need to study engineering and the candidates who continue higher studies in it. The main motive of having a section of Aptitude in the question paper is to check a candidate’s logic aptitude and their proficiency in solving logical problems. The marks carried by this section is 5-10. Candidates should not take more than 5 minutes.
The Aptitude section cover topics like Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability.
The candidate’s expertise in grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction are tested by the Authorities of the Exam.
The numerical ability has topics like Numerical Computation, Numerical estimation, Numerical reasoning and data interpretation.
Qualifying Degree (Major)
The total questions asked at this level is the same for all the papers. There will be 90-100 questions altogether and the marks carried is also 90-100 as per paper. There is 13 qualifying paper at this level.
