He was born and raised in Patna Bihar. His story is that of a humble man, who rose from rags to riches. The Kumar family struggled financially, therefore, he did his schooling from a government school. Despite securing admission to Cambridge University, he couldn’t pursue his dream due to financial constraints. Educational Qualification Of Anand Kumar
Anand Kumar is a passionate mathematician. It is precisely his interest in Mathematics which led him to write papers on number theory. Consequently, Mathematical Spectrum and The Mathematical Gazette published his papers. He subsequently secured admission to Cambridge University. However, he could not pursue his education due to financial constraints and on top of that, his father died in 1994.
Nevertheless, he studied mathematics during the day and joined his mother to sell papads during the evening hours. She had started a business from home to support the family. However, the family income was still in dire condition. Therefore, Anand started to give tuition to help his financially deprived family. During such times of poverty, Anand did not lose his passion for mathematics. Since Patna University did not have any foreign journals, Anand travelled to Varanasi every weekend to study mathematics. The train journey was approximately six hours long.

Anand Kumar Super 30 Program
In order to earn some money, Anand rented a classroom of Rs. 500 per month. He established the Ramanujan School Of Mathematics in 1992. Primarily, he started with two students but gradually his batch grew from 2 to 36. And within a span of 3 years, he had enrolled 500 students. However, one day when a poor student came seeking counselling for JEE Main since he couldn’t afford the annual admission fee due to poverty. Thus, recalling his former days he got inspired to start the super 30 programs in the year 2002. It was the super 30 program which brought him fame and prestige later on in life. When asked about his vision, he says; Super 30 is changing the world 30 students at a time.
The RSM institute till date holds a competitive exam since 2002, wherein they select 30 economically backward students. He then coaches them for JEE Main for admission to IITs. His mother subsequently helps him by cooking for the aspiring students and his brother deals with managerial work.
In the years between 2003-2017, 391 out of 450 students cleared IIT Main. Furthermore, the entire super 30 Anand Kumar batch of the year 2010, cleared IIT JEE Main. This happened thrice in a row from 2008-2010. Anand Kumar clearly superseded his own expectations. Moreover, he did it with no financial support from the govt or private agencies. He managed the super 30 from the tuition fee he earned from the Ramanujan Institute. Anand Kumar gradually gained fame and therefore offers started pouring in from govt and international companies to help him financially. However, he declined all the offers, since he wanted to manage super 30 on his own. Consequently, his net worth is Rs. 50 Lakhs as of 2018.
