JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The JoSAA is responsible for holding all the counseling events for the students who qualify the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. JoSAA is a Joint Counseling for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced 2018 for the candidates who qualify the Entrance Examination. Candidates can get admissions in NITs, IITs, and GFITs through the JEE MAIN 2018 Ranks. There are total 97 Institutes that participate in JoSAA 2018.

JoSAA conducts a total of seven rounds of counseling and seat allotment procedure. JoSAA also provides the facility to attempt a mock counseling round in order to understand the counseling process conducted by JoSAA. There will be total 2 Mock Allotments Tests this year for the candidates. The first mock test will be conducted in the third week of June 2018. JoSAA 2018 Counselling

The JoSAA Counselling Registration and choice filling for Round 1 of Seat Allotment had started from 15th June 2018. As per the Sources it has been found that over 1, 50, 000 candidates have filled choices in JoSAA 2018 for preferred programs and the total number of choices came around 1.7 Crores. JoSAA is conducting the Seat Allotment and Counseling Process for Undergraduate Engineering Seats across IITs, NITs and GFITs. Approx 34, 000 seats are reserved for the JoSAA Counseling.

Candidates who have passed the JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2018 have to register in JoSAA 2018 Counseling and Seat Allotment. JoSAA Counselling and the Seat Allotment Process includes the following procedures:

JoSAA 2018 Registration

  • The JoSAA Registration is conducted online only.
  • Candidates have to register themselves on the Official website of JoSAA.
  • Candidates have to log in using Roll Number and Security Password.
  • Candidates have to do Choice Filling at the time of Registration.
  • There will be a Mock Counseling conducted by JoSAA for a better understanding of the Seat Allotment and Choice Filling.

JoSAA 2018 Eligibility Criteria

  • JoSAA has a certain set of Rules and conditions which the candidate have to satisfy the criteria.
  • Candidates must satisfy all the eligibility criteria and conditions that require getting admissions in NITs, IITs and GFITs.
  • The Eligibility criteria vary from Institute to Institute.

Candidates must note that the JoSAA does not provide any Eligibility Criteria, the Institutes provide their own eligibility criteria. Just qualifying the desired exam will not provide Admission to the desired Institution. Candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the Institutes. If in case, the candidate has provided any wrong information then the seat allotment will be canceled instead will be passed to another candidate.

JoSAA 2018 Results

  • JoSAA Results will be announced online on JoSAA Website. JoSAA 2018 Results will be declared for counseling of JEE Main and Advanced 2018.
  • Results will be declared in the form of Rank List. The Rank List will be common for both JEE Main and Advanced 2018.
  • The Rank List will be prepared on the basis of the Categories and Institutes.

JoSAA 2018 Rank List

Candidates who have appeared in Paper 1 and 2 will be included in the Rank List of JEE Advanced 2018. The marks scored in Physics Paper II will be equivalent to Physics Paper I plus the marks scored in Physics of Paper II. The same procedure will be applied for the other two subjects Maths and Chemistry.

The Average Marks scored by the candidate in JEE Advanced is the sum of marks scored in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. The Rank List will be prepared on the basis of the average score secured by the candidate.

JoSAA Rank List- Tie Breaking Policy:

  • If two or more candidates secure same aggregate marks then JoSAA has some tie-breaking policies to sort out this confusion.
  • Higher Rank will be given to those candidates who receive more marks in Mathematics will be given priority. If the Tie does not break, then the higher rank will be given to the candidate who has scored more marks in Physics.
  • If the Tie still exists, then the same rank will be awarded to both the candidates.
  • If the candidate scores the minimum marks and fulfills the category criteria then the candidate’s name will appear in more than one rank list.

JoSAA 2018 Participating Institutes

  • Total 97 Institutes are participating in the JoSAA.
  • The 97 Institutes comprises of 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), 23 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and 20 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFITs).
  • Based on their performance in JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2018, candidates will be offered seats for various undergraduate programs.

JoSAA 2018 Reporting Centres

The JoSAA has announced the name and address of the Reporting Centres in first week of June 2018. Candidates have to report the centres to get their seats confirmed. Candidates have to report the centre to get admission in various undergraduate programs.

Freeze Float and Slide Option by JoSAA 2018:

At the Time of Counseling, candidates are given Freeze, Float and Slide Option by JoSAA 2018. The functionality of each option is as follows:

  • Freeze Option: This Option states that once the candidate has accepted or alloted a seat and do wish to participate in further rounds is called as Freeze Option.
  • Float Option: The Float Option suggests that the offered seats are accepted by the candidates but in case they get admission in higher/ better academic programmes in any other institute. Then the candidates can either accept it or else continue with the present program that was offered to them. These candidates will be taken into further rounds of Admission.
  • Slide Option: In Slide Option, candidates who have accepted the offered seat and in case they are offered with a better program in the same institute then they will accept it. These candidates will be considered for further rounds.

The JoSAA Counselling has started from 15th June 2018. The Counseling procedure will be conducted online.
