CSIR NET Exam Syllabus Pattern 2025
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the CSIR NET Exam for all the Science Discipline subjects. NTA will publish CSIR UGC NET Exam Pattern 2025 in the official notification. CSIR NET Exam will be conducted for 5 subjects – Chemical Science, Earth Science, Life Science, Mathematical Science, and Physical Science. The applicants must check the exam pattern and the CSIR UGC NET JRF Syllabus PDF before applying for the course. CSIR-UGC (NET) Exam for Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lecturership shall be a Single Paper Test having Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

CSIR UGC NET Exam Pattern
The CSIR NET Exam is only for the candidates from the Science Discipline. The NTA conducts the National-Level test on the basis of a fixed exam pattern and syllabus. Therefore, all the applicants must go through the exam scheme and syllabus of the entrance test before appearing for the exam. The details of the CSIR UGC NET Syllabus for General Aptitude, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences is given in the section given below:
- The MCQ test paper for each subject shall carry a maximum of 200 marks.
- The exam shall be for a duration of three hours.
- The question paper shall be divided into three parts:
Part ‘A’: Common to all subjects.
- There will be 20 objective type questions in Part ‘A’.
- Candidates are required to answer any 15 questions.
- In case a student answers more than 15 questions, only the first 15 answers will be evaluated.
- All questions are of 2 marks each.
- The wrong answer will attract a negative marking of 0.5 marks.
- This section has questions related to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, etc.
Part ‘B’: Contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the topics given in the syllabus.
- There will be 50 objective type questions in Part ‘B’.
- Candidates are required to answer any 35 questions.
- In case a student answers more than 35 questions, only the first 35 answers will be checked.
- All questions are of 2 marks.
- Negative marking of 0.5 marks for wrong answers.
Part ‘C’: Contain higher value questions that may test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts.
- There will be 75 objective type questions in Part ‘C’.
- The candidates are required to answer any 25 questions out of 75 questions.
- In case a student answers more than 25 questions, only the first 25 answers will be evaluated.
- All questions shall be of 4 marks each.
- There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for wrong answers.
N.B. There will be negative marking of 25% for each wrong answer.

The important instructions related to CSIR UGC NET 2025 are as follows:
- The candidates who have registered for this test must check the official website to get the latest updates. Aspirants must refer to the website for checking their registration and for time to time updates.
- The Question paper will be set in Hindi and English Version. Candidate opting for Hindi medium in the Application Form will be displayed questions in both English and Hindi whereas candidates opting for English medium will be asked questions in English Version only.
- The actual number of questions in each Part and Section to be asked and attempted may vary from subject to subject.
- No candidate shall be permitted to leave the Exam Hall before completion of 3 hours from the start of the exam.
- Candidates must carry CSIR NET Admit Card and an original photo Id proof and two passport size photos.
