Punjab Technical University (PTU) is a state university situated in Punjab. This university does not conduct any entrance exam for admission to undergraduate B Tech programme in the university itself & its affiliated colleges. It only conducts online centralized counselling and candidates are given admission on the basis of JEE Main exam score. Eligibility Criteria for PTU B Tech Admission 2018
- For admission to the B Tech programme, 85% of the seats will be reserved for candidates from within the state and the rest of the 15% seats shall be open for candidates belonging from outside the state.
- Admission will be made on the basis of JEE Main 2018 rank for both 85% quota for candidates belonging to Punjab and 15% quota for candidates from outside Punjab.
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- After the central counselling, if any seats of B Tech (Bio Technology) remains vacant, candidates who have studied Chemistry as a core subject along with Mathematics/Computer Science/Bio Technology/Biology as an optional subject will be eligible for admission.
- Students appearing qualifying examination in year 2018 can also take part in the counselling. However, the selection will be done on the basis of JEE Main 2018 Merit. The admission of such candidates will be provisional. If any candidate fails to fulfill the eligibility requirement at the time of counselling, he/she will not be granted admission under any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria for Reserved Seat of PTU B Tech Admission 2018
PTU reserves a definite number of seats in universities and institutions affiliated with it for the candidates belonging to special categories like SC/ST/OBC/PwD etc. Candidate belonging to special category must ensure that they have appeared in JEE Main 2018 entrance exam. They will be selected on the basis of both JEE Main 2018 score and category.
Candidates who want to claim seat reservation under the below given specified category are required to make their respective claim at the time of registration for the PTU B Tech 2018 online counselling. The claim for reservation will, however, be considered by the authority only after the applicant produces the required certificates at the time of admission.

Important Points Regarding Seat Reservation Criteria for PTU B Tech Admission 2018
- If the sub-categories are not filled by suitable candidates, then those seats will be filled by candidates from the other sub-categories of disabled candidates. If the seats still remain vacant then admission will be offered to candidates belonging to general category.
- Children and widows of defence personnel killed or disabled to the extent of 50% or more in action, wards of gallantry awardees, children of serving defence personnel/ex-servicemen (2%). The order of priority to this category is given in the table below :
