Punjab Technical University (PTU) offers undergraduate B Tech Programme to the university itself and colleges affiliated with it. PTU does not conduct any entrance exam. It only conducts online centralized counselling. Candidates are allotted seats based on JEE Main exam score, category, choice of college and preferred stream and seat availability. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria once before participating in the PTU counselling procedure.

The PTU B Tech 2018 counselling is being held for all the registered candidates having their names on the merit list. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of their JEE Main 2018 score and qualifying exam(i.e class 12) result. Such candidates will have to pay the specified counselling fee first and then proceed to further rounds.

PTU Counselling Fee
The link and procedure for counselling and fee payment have been made available on IKGPTU official website www.ptu.ac.in. Candidates can download the information brochure, counselling procedure, schedule and other details from the official website. The required to pay counselling fees of an amount Rs.2000 through online mode(debit card/credit card/net banking). After successful fee payment, candidates must take a printout copy of E-deposit slip.
NOTE: Application fee is non-refundable.
Registration for PTU Counselling
After paying the counselling fee, candidates will have to register themselves for the online centralized counselling by visiting the official website www.ptu.ac.in. Candidate will have to provide the following details during registration
- Name of the candidate.
- JEE Main roll number and rank
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Category
- Contact Number
- Address
- Email ID
NOTE: It is important for the candidates to fill all the details carefully during registration because once filled, they will not be able to make any changes in their registration form.
Choice Filling of Stream and Institute
After successful registration, the candidate has to fill their choice of stream & institution. Candidates can fill the branches and colleges choice in order of their preferences. Result Declaration
After the choice filling process is over, all filled choices of all the registered candidates will be considered for seat allotment. The seat will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of merit list, seat availability and category. Seats allotted to candidates in PTU & its affiliated colleges will be informed through SMS on registered mobile number individually on the day of result declaration. Candidates can also check college allotted to him/her online by visiting the official website. If satisfied with the college allotted, candidates are required to take a print out of provisional allotment letter available at the official website.
Seat Allotment
Candidates who are satisfied with the seats allotted to him/her are required to report at the allotted college along with the provisional allotment letter and set of documents for verification. Candidates will also have to pay the requisite academic fee on the day of reporting at the allotted college and in any case if the candidate fails to visit the college on the specified date and time, their seats will be automatically canceled. The candidates will have to undergo document verification and pay the requisite fees to lock their seat at the allotted institute.
Candidates have to carry the following set of documents at the allotted institute:-
- JEE Main 2018 Admit Card
- JEE Main 2018 Score Card
- 10+2 Standard (or equivalent) Mark-sheet & Passing Certificate
- Class 10 certificate or birth certificate as Proof of Age
- Residential Certificate
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- Character Certificate from the Principal of the College/ School last attended
- Migration Certificate for Candidates of Other Universities/ Boards
- Degree Certificate (If applicable)
- Seat Allotment Letter
- Domicile Certificate
- GAP Certificate
- Medical Certificate

- Two recent passport size photographs
Participating in 2nd Round of Counselling
In case if the candidate is not satisfied with the institute allotted to him/her in the 1st round, then the candidate is eligible to sit for the 2nd round, however, they do not have to pay the counselling fee again. If the candidate wants to sit directly in the 2nd round of counselling, they can sit by depositing an amount of Rs. 2000 (non-refundable) by following the procedure as defined in the 1st round of counselling.
Participating in Counselling Procedure on the Basis of 10+2
If the seats in the PTU & its affiliated colleges remain vacant after the 2nd round of counselling, then the authority will release separate merit list, cut-off and result on the basis of 10+2 qualifying examination. Candidate can sit in this round by following the procedure as defined in the 1st round of counselling.
