JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority. It is the governing body that conducts joint counselling for admission to IIITs, NITs, IITs, and GFTIs. The JoSAA body consists of representatives from JAB or Joint Admission Board which represents the IITs and CSAB or Central Seat Allocation Board which represents the IITs, NITs and GFTIs. All eligible and qualified candidates of JEE Main and JEE advanced can take part in the JoSAA counselling.

JoSAA conducts the counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualified candidates. The registration and choice filling for JoSAA 2018 had begun from 15th June. For the registration process, candidates were required to provide their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password. After successfully registering, the candidate had to enter his/her choice of B. Tech course and the name of the participating institutions that he/she wants admission to.
Eligible candidates of JEE Main 2018 will be able to get admission in IITs, NITs, and CFTIs whereas those who have met the cut-off of JEE advanced 2018 will be getting admission in IITs only. After entering all the details of College and course, candidates must take a print out of the same for future references.

JoSAA Registration And Choice Filling 2018
The registration and choice filling of JoSAA 2018 had to be done by the candidate in an online mode.

The registration had started for all candidates from 15th of June 2018. All the qualified candidates of JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018 can have a look at the steps given below involved in the counselling procedure.
Step 1 – Registration
- In the first step of registration, candidates will be required to go to the official website of JoSAA and log in with their JEE Main roll number and Password. If candidates have registered for JEE advanced 2018, they can use the JEE advanced password. Otherwise, the jEE mAin 2018 password can be used.
- JoSAA Registration Form will be displayed on your screen.All information submitted by the candidate at the time of JEE Main 2018 registration will be displayed on the screen. Candidates must check all details and make sure to check for any discrepancy.
- It is mandatory for the candidates to change the password While preparing their new password, the candidates will have to set a security question.
- Check and verify all the details click on “Confirm Registration” button.
Step 2 – Filling of Choices
- After successfully registering, candidates will be able to see a list of various colleges and courses. The available choices will be displayed based on the eligibility of the candidate.
- Those candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced 2018 examination will be eligible for almost all of the choices whether those candidates who have qualified JEE Main 2018 will be able to select only from NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
- Choices made by the candidate must be according to the preference of the candidate. The candidate can also modify the choices entered by clicking on “Arrange Filled Choices”.
- The candidate can also choose the option of “Choices Rearrange” and “Choices Interchange”
Step 3 – Locking of Choices
- The last step in the choice filling is the locking of choices.
- After filing in all the choices of college and course, candidates must click on “I Agree to lock my choices”. In case a candidate wants to make changes, they can click on “I will lock my choices later”.
- Candidates are required to take a print out of the filled in choices.
- For the candidates to take a print out, he/she must enter their roll number and password.
