MHT CET stands for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. It is also known as Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test. This is a state level examination conducted annually by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra.

The MHT CET 2018 is conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) in offline mode for 3 papers and for the academic session of 2018-19, it will be held on 10th May 2018.
All candidates planning to pursue the undergraduate courses of B. Tech, B.E., B. Pharm and Pharm D courses will have to fit all the eligibility criteria before filling up the online application form. Eligibility criteria are the parameters relating to the age, educational qualification, domicile, etc, set by the exam conducting authority.

MHT CET 2018Â general eligibility criteria are given below:
- Candidate should be a citizen of India.
- He/she should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized board/university.
- Candidates appearing for their class 12th examination in the year 2018 can also apply for MH CET 2018 exam.
- There is no age limit restriction to take MH CET 2018 examination.
About All India Quota
As per the announcement made by DTE, Maharashtra, 85% of the seats in private unaided Engineering Institutes in Maharashtra will be filled through MHCET. The rest 15% of seats will be filled by All India Quota based on MH CET 2018.
The MHT CET 2018 category wise eligibility criteria for admissions are set differently. Candidates falling under each category will have to meet the respective eligibility criteria. The table is given below:
Maharashtra State, All India Candidate, Jammu and Kashmir Migrants
- The candidate has to be an Indian National.
- The candidate has to pass HSC or equivalent with Physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical/Vocational subjects.
- In all the subjects taken together, candidates have to secure at least 50% (general category) and 45% in case of reserved category candidates (ST/SC/PWD)
OR
- Candidate must have passed diploma in engineering and Technology with at least 50% (general category) and 45% in case of reserved category candidates (ST/SC/PWD)belonging to the state of Maharashtra.
OR
- Must have passed with a B. Sc degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 50% (general category) and 45% in case of reserved category candidates (ST/SC/PWD) belonging to the state of Maharashtra.
- Candidates must have secured a valid score in MHT CET 2018 (PCM) or in JEE Main 2018 Paper 1.
Foreign National Candidates, Children of NRI/OCI/PIO/Indian workers in Gulf Countries (CWIGC)
- The candidate has to be an Indian National.
- The candidate has to pass HSC or equivalent with Physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical/Vocational subjects.
- In all the subjects taken together, candidates have to secure at least 50%.
- These candidates will be directly provided admission based on their score in the qualifying examination.

Minority Candidate
- Candidates belonging to a particular religious or linguistic minority from the state of Maharashtra will be eligible for admission under this category.
Jammu and Kashmir Migrant
- Children of citizens who are displaced from J & K or from the unsafe border area of J & K to any place in India or any safer place in Jammu and Kashmir from 1990 onwards are eligible.
- Children of IAS, IFS or IPS officers and children of staff belonging to military and paramilitary forces, transferred to Jammu and Kashmir, to combat terrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission of the application for admission will fall under this category.
- The children of staff and officers of Jammu and Kashmir police engaged in combating terrorism are eligible under this category.
Persons with Disability
- Apart from the basic qualification, the candidate who is suffering from the below-given list of disability (not less than 40%) is eligible for admission to the PwD seats:
- Visually impaired (blind)
- Speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb)
- Orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Spastic
Eligibility Criteria For Domicile of Maharashtra Karnataka Disputed Area
- Candidates of a place situated in the area specified as Maharashtra Karnataka disputed area are eligible.
- Candidates should have passed 10+2 from the institute located in the disputed border area.
- Candidates under this category will have to produce the domicile certificate from the principal of that school.
- Candidates under this category must have Marathi as their mother tongue and should have passed HSC with Marathi as one of the subjects.
Eligibility Criteria For Wards of Defence Personnel
- Children or spouse of Defence Service personnel residing in the state of Maharashtra are eligible to apply.
- Children or spouse of Defence Service personnel transferred to Maharashtra are also eligible.
Mining Engineering Course
- Female candidates are not eligible to apply to this course.
