Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2018) is not an entrance examination but an admission process conducted for admission to engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. It is managed by the Anna University, Chennai and is also called the Anna University Admissions. Admissions are granted on the basis of percentage obtained in PCM in 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination. TNEA is conducted annually and students need to register themselves for the same.

Every year over 1.5 lakh candidates get themselves enrolled for TNEA. For the academic year 2018, the registration for TNEA 2018 had begun on 3rd May 2018. Candidates had to register and submit the application form along with the required documents. A cut-off will be prepared and candidates who meet the cut-off will be called for counselling and the admission procedure. Seat allotment will be done differently for different categories.

The counselling for TNEA 2018 has begun on the 8th June 2018. Counselling will include seat allotment and verification of documents. The counselling will be based on the merit and reservation of seats. Candidates who obtain a higher rank will be first called for counselling. They will also have the opportunity to choose the college and course at the time of counselling which will be conducted in an offline mode. All the eligible candidates will have to be present in person at the time of counselling with the required documents. Shortlisted candidates for TNEA 2018 counselling will have to pay the requisite counselling fee either through cash or a Demand Draft.

Documents Required for TNEA 2018 Counselling

  1. 10th and 12th passing certificate
  2. 10th and 12th mark sheet
  3. Domicile certificate
  4. Category certificate (if applicable)
  5. Six recent passport size photograph
  6. Valid identity proof

Please note that under certain circumstances, if a candidate is not able to attend the counselling, then his/her parents can attend the counselling.

TNEA 2018 Seat Allotment Process

The Seat Allotment process will be held during the counselling process. When allotting category-wise seats, the seats will be given first to the applicants of Tamil Nadu and then to those candidates who belong to other states. Choices opted by candidates will be taken into account to allot seats. Once the seat is allotted, the candidate will have to pay the required tuition fee.

Please note that in case there is no applicant in the Kashmiri migrant category, the seat will be transfered to the Northern region.

TNEA 2018 Admissions Procedure

TNEA 2018 admissions will take place after all the counselling and seat allotment procedures have ended. Candidates will have to report to the allotted college with the allotment letter and the required documents. They will then have to pay the course fee and complete all the admission formalities.
