SET stands for Symbiosis Entrance Test. It is a common entrance examination that is conducted for those candidates who are seeking admission to courses like B.A LL.B./ B.B.A LL.B/ B.Des./ BCA/ BBA (IT)/ B.A.(Mass Communication)/ B.Sc (Economics) Hons./ B.A. (Liberal Arts)/ B.Sc (Liberal Arts)/ B.Sc (Culinary Arts)/ B.Tech offered at the Symbiosis International Deemed Universities. Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts the Symbiosis entrance test. The test is held for undergraduate courses of different streams. The SET 2018 was conducted in an online mode across various cities of India.

SET 2018 was conducted as a common entrance examination for the courses mentioned above. All the aspiring students who wish to seek admission to the institutes affiliated to SIU had to first register and fill up the online application form of the same that had been made available on the official website from 29th January 2018. The online registration had closed on 14th April 2018. The exam was conducted on 5th May 2018 from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. SET 2018 Results for each candidate was released on 14th May 2018.
Until last year, SET umbrella comprised of SET law, SET engineering, SET design and SET general. From this year, SET Law test will be known as Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), SET Design test as Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), SET Engineering as SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE). SET General will continue as SET.

Counselling of SET 2018
The counselling for SET 2018 was conducted separately according to each institute policy. The counselling for SET b. tech courses had started from 2nd June 2018. After the results have been announced, the candidates were shortlisted and called for personal interaction and writing ability test or better known as the (PI-WAT) round. The SET scores will carry 50% weightage and PI-WAT will carry 50% weightage. Category-wise cut off for Merit List and Wait List was displayed on the website of the respective institutes. The movement of Waitlist depended upon the number of vacant seats available. Please note that this admission is provisional and will be confirmed on payment of fees on or before the due date and subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions of the respective programme(s) and in accordance with the rules of the Symbiosis International University.
SET Result 2018
The exam conducting authority has declared the results for all the candidates who had taken the exam on 14th May 2018. The result was announced on the official website in the online mode. SET- 2018 results were released in the form of a scorecard which will be available for 1 month after the results have been announced. All the candidates who are shortlisted based on their score in the entrance examination were called for Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT). Candidates must note that it was mandatory for every shortlisted candidate to attend the components of PI-WAT to be eligible for admission to any UG programme. Only those candidates who attend all the components of PI-WAT will be considered for the merit/ wait/ rejection list.
Registration / Application Form for SET 2018
Symbiosis Entrance Test 2018 registration had been made available on the website set-test.org on 25th January 2018. All aspiring candidates had to first register themselves first and could register for maximum two examinations; one that was held in the morning session and the other that was held in the afternoon session. Candidates were not allowed to make any changes to the application form after the last date of application submission. During registration, candidates were also required to upload a scanned image of their recent photograph in not more than a file size of 100 KB. The information entered by the candidate had to be accurate and valid. In case the information was found to be incorrect, the candidature of the candidate was canceled. Applicants also had to make an application payment. This payment could be made through Bill-desk gateway, axis bank gateway, Indian bank gateway or demand draft. If the candidate was paying through demand draft, he/she had to submit a DD of Rs. 1750 from any nationalized bank drawn in the favor of Symbiosis Test Secretariat payable at Pune.
Eligibility Criteria for SET 2018
Before registering and filling up the online application form of SET 2018, every candidate must make sure that they fit into all the eligibility criteria set by the exam conducting authority. The SIU has laid down the eligibility criteria based on certain parameters and only those fulfill all the below mentioned criteria must apply for the exam. In case an ineligible candidate fills the application form, his/her candidature will be canceled at any given point in time.

Reservation Policy
There are a certain number of seats that are reserved in the institutes affiliated to the university for some categories. The students who belong to such categories can claim the seats under their respective categories provided they fit the eligibility criteria and qualify the exam.
As per the guidelines of UGC 2006, the reservation policy for all the institutes under the symbiosis international university is as follows:
Scheduled Caste – 15%
Scheduled tribe – 7.5%
Differently abled – 3%
Kashmiri migrants – 2 seats per programme
International candidates – 15%
defence quota—5 % for SLS-PUNE, SICSR and SCMS- Pune.
Exam Pattern of SET 2018
Every candidate who is going to appear for the exam must know the exam pattern. The exam pattern of any examination includes information about the exam like the mode of the exam, the duration, marking scheme, the types of questions and the number of questions. Those who are going to take SET and starting off with the preparation for it soon can have a look at the exam pattern given below:
- SET 2018 and SITEEE 2018 will be conducted in the online computer based mode on 5th may 2018 from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
- The duration of each test is 150 minutes.
- All questions will be objective type and will have 4 options.
- Questions will be asked from physics, chemistry, and mathematics (for engineering) and will be based on general English, quantitative, general awareness, analytical and logical reasoning (for SET- General).
- There will be no provision of negative marking.
- All sections will be mandatory to attend.

Preparation Tips for SET 2018

Syllabus for SET 2018
The syllabus for SET- engineering will include all the important topics from physics, chemistry, and mathematics from class 11th and 12th standard. General questions will be asked from logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension and general knowledge.
SET 2018 Admit Card/ Hall Ticket

The SET 2018 Admit Card had been made available for the candidates in the online mode from 21st April – 5th May 2018 2018. Only those candidates who had registered on the official website for the exam were issued the admit card. Candidates had to take a printout of the hall ticket in colored ink. Black and white print out of the admit card was not accepted. The applicant also had to paste his/her recent passport size photograph in the space earmarked for it. Every candidate must carry the hall ticket to the exam venue as it will carry important information like the name of the candidate, the exam center details and exam time and date. The absence of the admit card will debar the candidate from taking the exam. The candidate will not be allowed to enter the exam hall without the hall ticket in any given circumstance. On the day of the examination, candidates also have to take one of the photo identity proofs (passport, driving license, Voter ID, PAN card, Aadhar card) along with the admit card. Please note that the candidate will not be allowed to leave the exam center before 3:15 PM.
Cut-off of SET 2018
The cut-off refers to the minimum marks that a candidate must obtain in order to be eligible for further admission procedure. Every institute affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU) will release its own cut-off. The cut-off will be different for each category within each institute.
SET 2018 Participating Institutes
SET is a university level examination conducted by SIU for admission to undergraduate courses. These courses will be offered at the participating institutes of SET 2018. These colleges will offer seats to candidates based on the SET 2018 merit list. Candidates can choose the college of their choice after they are shortlisted for admission procedure.
