Eligibility Criteria of Thapar University B.Tech Admissions
The eligibility conditions that the candidate must possess to apply for admission into B. Tech programme at the university for the academic session 2018 are as follows. Before going to fill up the application form, candidates must check the eligibility criteria at least once.
There has been a recent update regarding the eligibility criteria for BE/ B. Tech candidates. Check the new eligibility criteria in the Qualifying examination section given in the table below.

Thapar University 2018 Application Form
The application form of Thapar B.Tech admission 2018 has been released online in February 2018. The applicant can fill and submit the form till the last date i.e. 29th April 2018. Candidates have to fill the form carefully as wrong information will lead to rejection. Before going to fill up the application form, applicants must check the above-mentioned eligibility criteria. To apply for admission is basically a two-way process. One to fill up the application form and the second is to pay the application fee.
Here is a step by step guide to apply for the Thapar University B. Tech Admissions 2018
Registration
The applicants, first of all, have to register themselves to participate in the admission process.
- For that, visit the official website i.e www.thapar.edu.
- Click on “Apply Now” option.
- Click on “create new account” and carefully fill all the necessary details.
- After entering all the details, click on “submit” button.
Fill up the application form
Log in using the username and password (generated during registration). Fill in personal details, academic details, select the programme in which you want to get enrolled in and click on “submit” button.
Upload scanned images
The next step after filling up the application form is to upload the scanned images of the following documents as per the specification provided in the table below:

Payment of application fee
The application fee for B.Tech admission 2018 can be paid via two modes i.e offline and online and they are as follows. The amount to be paid in both the mode is same i.e Rs.1500/-.
Online Mode: The application fee can be paid by using credit card, debit card or net banking. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Offline Mode: The candidates, if want to pay via offline mode, they have to generate the bank challan by visiting the official website and take the printout of the same. The fee must be deposit at any designated bank branch.
Printout of application form
After paying the application fee, the applicants must take the printout of the application form. It has to be produced/submitted at the time of counselling.
Cut-off for Thapar University B.Tech Admissions 2018
As there is not any entrance exam conducted by the authority, they directly release the cut-off mark after the application form filling date gets over. Candidates must visit the official website regularly for updates related to cut-off mark and to check whether or not they are qualified for admission. The cut-off mark includes the JEE Main rank and qualifying examination marks.
The cut off will have an opening and closing rank of JEE Main 2018. The opening rank here specifies the starting rank from which the admissions will be accepted and the closing rank here specifies that no further admissions will be accepted after that particular rank. The opening and closing rank form a bracket between which the admissions of the candidates will be accepted. The candidates with ranks that do not fall within this bracket are not entertained for admission under any general circumstances.
The official authority determines the Cut-off by considering the following factors:
- Number of applicants applied for admission
- Seats for reserved category.
- The number of available seats.
- Marks secured by the applicants in the JEE Main 2018 exam.
Thapar University Merit List 2018
The merit list will be prepared by the university on the basis of scores obtained by applicants in JEE Main 2018. Applicants who obtain the cut-off rank, they will be eligible for admission. candidates whose names are placed higher in the merit list will be called first and the seat will be allotted to them.
Thapar University Counselling 2018
Based on the merit list, candidates will be called for counselling. The authority will release two merit list and counselling will take place according to that. If the seat remains vacant after the second round of counselling, then a third round will be conducted. Shortlisted candidates must report to the scheduled venue in person along with all the necessary documents.
Candidates have to carry the following set of documents at the time of reporting for counselling for document verification:

Thapar University 2018 B.Tech Admissions
The candidates who get the course of their choice, they are required to pay the admission fee to confirm the seat allotted to him/her. If they don’t do so, seat allotted will be automatically cancelled and the candidate cannot claim their seat in future.
