What after Application Form filling?

Aspirants who have filled up the application form are required to report at the counselling centre along with the necessary document/certificates for document verification. If the counselling authority finds the candidature is valid, then online approval and print copy of verified and approval slip will be generated and handed over to the applicants on the spot for future purpose.

Merit List of WB MBBS 2018

Based on the merit list, the seat is allotted to the candidates. The authority prepares and releases the merit list for admission of applicants to MBBS programme in the Colleges/Institution of the state West Bengal. Merit List is prepared and released category-wise separately for multiple rounds of counselling. It contains the names of shortlisted candidates eligible for choice locking and seat allotment.

Highlights of West Bengal MBBS 2018 Merit List

Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, will organize counselling for 85% state quota seats available in the state.

West Bengal MBBS merit list 2018 will be released on 28th July 2018 at 4 PM. The candidates will not be informed about West Bengal MBBS 2018 Merit List individually.

The merit list of West Bengal MBBS 2018 will be released separately for each category. There will be six merit lists –

  1. Eligible candidate list for Private Management Quota.
  2. Eligible candidate list for State and Private Quota.
  3. Eligible SC list for State and Private Quota.
  4. Eligible ST list for State and Private Quota.
  5. Eligible OBC A list for State and Private Quota.
  6. Eligible OBC B list for State and Private Quota.

NOTE: The candidates are advised to take a printout of West Bengal MBBS 2018 merit list for further reference.

Choice Filling and Locking

Registered candidates will be able to do the choice filling of colleges if his/her name appears in the merit list. They must select the colleges and make a list according to their preference. The choice filling and locking facility will be made via online in the last week of July 2018 by visiting the official website. The applicants can make the choice filling and lock only once. They cannot make any changes/edit in the preference of colleges later on.

WB MBBS 2018 Seat Allotment Procedure

The counselling authority prepares the multiple merit list based on the NEET rank and score. Multiple rounds of counselling are conducted in preference to the merit list. The applicants will be allotted seats based on the merit list and choice of colleges made by them. Generally, two rounds of counselling take place. A “mop-up” or manual round is conducted if the seat remains vacant. To view and download the final seat allotment list, candidates must follow the steps same as to check the merit list.

The final seat allotment list contains the following details:

  1. Counselling Round Number
  2. NEET All India Rank
  3. Choice number of the college made by the candidate.
  4. Name of the Institute allotted.
  5. Course
  6. Allotted Category
  7. Candidate Category
  8. Status (whether fresh allotment or retained)

Applicants must check the seat allotment list online to find out whether their name appears in the list. In case, appears then they must report to the college allotted to him/her along with the necessary documents. They also have to pay the academic fee to confirm their seats. If any candidate is unsatisfied with the seat allotted to him/her in the first round, then they can sit for the second round to get seat allotted in a higher preference with respect to the choice filling made by him/her.
