JEE Main Counselling 2018
The JoSAA 2018 counselling process will take place online only. Complete JEE Mains counselling 2018 will be managed by JoSAA while counselling for vacant seats will be controlled by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). JEE Main 2018 Counselling will take place in seven rounds like registration, choice filling, seat allotment, seat acceptance, document verification & reporting to the allotted college.

Registration for JoSAA 2018
Qualified candidates have to first register themselves to participate in JEE Mains 2018 counselling process.

How to Register for JoSAA counselling: Visit the official website of JoSAA. Using the JEE Main 2018 Credentials i.e registration number and pass, login to candidates dashboard. Fill all the details required for registration. After providing all the required details, confirm the details by clicking the “Confirm” button.
Choice Filling & Locking during JEE Main Counselling
Applicants are not needed to pay any fees while choice filling & locking. Applicants have to fill and lock their suitable choices by logging to their jee main dashboard. Every candidate has to fill maximum choices for the seat allotment. After selecting the choices, lock them. If any candidate forgets to lock their choices, then previously selected choices will be locked automatically.
JEE Main 2018 Seat Allotment
According to choices selected by the candidate previously, seat allotment will take place. Candidates are advised print the “Provisional Seat Allocation Letter” and generated challan for seat acceptance. At the time of seat acceptance, applicants can select to freeze, slide or float options for following rounds.
Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment
The seat acceptance fee will be Rs. 20,000/- for reserved categories and Rs. 45,000/- for general candidates. Applicants can pay the fee through e-challan & SBI net banking. Candidates paying the fee through e-challan must take a printout of it for further use.
Reporting at the Allotted Reporting Centre for Verification
After the seat acceptance fee payment, applicants have to appear at the centering centre for verification. Candidates have to bring the required documents at the center. Seat will be confirmed by the reporting centre after the verification of documents. If candidates fail to report to the allotted centre their offer will be rejected.

Reporting to the Allotted College
Once the seat alotted gets confirmed by the reporting centre, applicants will then have to report to the allotted institution. The candidate has to bring the documents and admission fees as prescribed by the allotted college.
JEE Main Counselling Rounds
Most of the time there remain some vacant seats in every institution after the first round. Hence, multiple rounds of seat allocation are carried. The applicants need not register for each round of JEE Main counselling 2018, neither do they need to submit the choice of the course and the institutes again. On the previous preferences of the candidates, seats will be allotted in each round.
Some terms related to JEE Main 2018 Counselling which the candidates must know:
Freeze: Once a seat is allocated to a candidate, the applicants can choose the freeze option if he/she is satisfied with the seat allotted and would be willing to take admission.
Float: Taking floating choice means that the applicants select the seat allotted but would like to try for more preference in any institute, in subsequent rounds.
Slide: This choice means that the applicants hold the seat but would try for better academic program preference, in the same institute, in next round of counselling.
Withdraw: This choice indicates that the applicants want to decline the allotted seat and do not want to participate in counselling anymore.

For IITs & IIITs
All India – It is open to all applicants
Home State applicants – Only for those applicants who have the same state code of eligibility as that of the institute.
Other State applicants – Applicants not from the home state will belong to the other state.
For Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and IIEST Shibpur- candidates from home state and other states.
For Assam University – All India and home state candidates
Other GFTIs – Only All India candidates
